many people in the UK don't like him cause he's ******... There, someone's gotta say it
Brits...Why all the hate for Khan>?

It definitely plays a factor, small it may be.
Thing is, people have less patience with him than if he was a white Christian. He talks a bit, but that gets blown completely out of proportion on this site. If he says something honest and humble, it will inevitably be spun as arrogant. That's what he's facing.
So what if he wants to clean out the division or fight Mayweather? Isn't that what they all want to do? That being said, he does get special treatment from GBP. Probably because he's a more marketable guy than someone like Maidana or Garcia. They want Khan to win all of his fights so he can be the next "golden boy". Unfortunately he's not good enough at this time, but he's the most naturally gifted fighter at 140, so maybe it will come.Comment

I'm not a brit, but the reason why I don't care for him is because he believes the hype that Golden Boy has inserted into his head. I'll do a breakdown:
He has always been chinny, getting floored a few times before the Prescott fight.
He then gets DESTROYED by Prescott, decides to make a change and move to train with Freddie Roach. Had a lot of success with Freddie Roach, talks about how he loves to train with the champ (PAC). During this time Bradley is beating Holt, Peterson, Campbell, and the last person for him to face is Alexander (remember how that fight would determine who the biggest 140lber was?). Khan had the big time promoter, who put this guy on a pedestal and let the other guys battle it out to then face Khan. Bradley wins, decides to wait out his contract with Shaw so he can get a big money fight and Khan goes all out saying he ducked him. Whereas, Khan BARELY made it past Maidana.
Khan fights Peterson, and while the fight was close he makes every excuse in the world of why he lost and was robbed. If he was as good as he thought he was, the fight shouldn't have even been close. Khan goes on about how Peterson never hurt him, he had no power etc. Then Peterson gets caught with higher testosterone levels and Khan comes out saying Peterson's punches felt different etc (***** move).
He then gets KO's by Gracia and again starts to point the finger. Fired Roach, said things about Roach is slowing down and he doesn't teach defense. He teams up with Hunter and now starts saying how much he has changed and how he is learning so much. But he is still getting hit with looping left hooks, still punches over his feet, and his defense hasn't improved. Yet Golden boy (again) wants all the tough guys to fight each other, then get him.
All in all, he's just not as good as he thinks he is. You would think after that many asswhoopings (Prescott, Maidana, Peterson, Gracia, Diaz), he would actually say I'm still working on things. What does he say though "I'll be champion by the end of the year". His code has been cracked, he's all flash and no substance. Get past those first couple of rounds with him and he's ripe for the taking.
Done. How many times do we have to go over this crap? All I ever hear is Khan fans asking why he isn't loved and playing the race card! I have said this 100 times before but here we go again.
I dislike Khan because I believe he gets preferential treatment in the world of boxing that he just flat out does not deserve.
I have watched every Khan fight since his first bout in the olympics. When he was in the olympics I thought he was a good boxer and dare I say it, even liked him.
Then he turned pro and this huge deal was made about him when the obvious flaws in his game were ignored and he was force fed to us. He then got exposed numerous times under Frank Warren yet still got ****** paydays for fighting nobodies that he struggled with. He then gets KTFO by Prescott and he says "I made a mistake" and he blames his trainer for the gameplan being wrong when in fact it was evident that he got rocked by a jab and put down by Willie Limond et al. and his chin sucks.
So anyway he gets Freddy on his team and in his interviews he now talks about how he is the next Manny and how they have wars in sparring and how he will be beating up Floyd soon and how Freddy is making him a complete fighter blah blah blah...
He has an okay little run beating up on some mediocre guys but ultimately gets exposed again.
He then says Freddy is no good for him (going against everything he said before). I don't like Freddy but at least that guy has accomplished a great deal in the sport and Khan acted like Freddy didn't know how to train him....
Anyway... after getting exposed for the 1000th time as an average fighter.... he still gets paid as if he is an elite fighter and GBP still suck his schlong.
Now he is with Hunter and he now talks like he is the next Ward and how his defense will be awesome but guess what? He is still garbage, yet consistently talks like he is the best and how he is a worthy Mayweather contender....
The guy is a joke and has one of the lowest IQs in and out of the ring of any fighter in the modern era....
It essentially comes down to him being unjustly big headed and getting preferential treatment.... that is all.
Great posts by both guys.... but I have to say.... using all those facts and logic doesn't hide the truth.
You're both racists who don't like Khan cause he is British and brown....
Anyone who doesn't like him has to be racist right?

What are all those gifts good for if he starts doing the chicken noodle soup dance every time he gets hit clean ? You guys can pull out the ****** card all you want but i think most people see Khan get hit by one shot and after hearing all the hype he gets see that and go.

Ignorance from all the casual english fans
I don't actually personally know anyone in England who watches boxing on a worldwide level
The only time these people get news about Amir Khan is when he gets KO'd and is on the Front of a news paper or website.Last edited by miniq; 05-02-2013, 05:29 PM.Comment

Khan is hated by many of the English underclass who see his ethnicity as some kind of a threat. There's white ******'s appearing in major cities and these underclass low lives only see mix with their own kind and spread mischief and hate.
Talk to well to do or educated British person and you will be less likely to hear such racist views. Unfortunately these people aren't heard enough and you only hear from the trolling dimwits once they've cashed their giro's from the job centre.
To me he talks big and has supreme confidence in himself which often borders arrogance but there's nothing wrong in that... he's in the entertainment game and he does very well from it. He is also a very charitable guy and has flown the flag for his country so can't understand all the hate.
Fact is the UK's ethnicity maps changing so in 40-50 years the Asians/Blacks etc will be the majority so in the future attitudes will change but unfortunately at the moment we have to put up with the ******s.Last edited by Mk12345; 05-02-2013, 06:03 PM.Comment

No point talking about casual fans - they bring all kind of reasons into y they like a fighter or not
But i can explain why BOXING fans - even in the UK have an issue with him
Once upon a time there was young amateur called Amir who won everybodys heart in Britian by winning a silver medal and only losing out to an established top boy from Cuba.
He soon turned pro and racked througha series of easy wins in somewhat impressive fashion. Things were looking good - he was already on uk ppv i think.
Then he hit the started to skate around some of the known / top contenders at a British level - and altho he won even there he was getting tagged and dropped but had rallied back each time - people still rated him.
There is a standard route that most British boxers have to go through, usually involves londsdale, commonwealth and european titles before any kind of shot.
Amir effectivelyt skipped those tests (which i beleive would have been tough) due to his fame - he was already being spoken of in terms of getting a str8 title shot after surviving Micheal Gomez. His next test was was meant to be a stay busy str8 forward affair with a certain Breidis Prescott.
I should say at this point I was still very much a fan. He clearly had talent seemed like a nice kid and a great ambassador for his community and the sport - as a boxing fan I thought there were some holes there but I was convinced his style would develop and it was just because he was "young doe". I didnt really like his quick path but I overlooked it, again maybe because i was a fan.
After the Bredis KO I was still a fan despite everyone I know (particularly casuals) telling me that he was *****. I still rate him for getting back in the gym the NEXT DAY and not allowing it mentally effect him in terms of crying / suidcice / dissappear fora few months that you usually get dring these kind of big KO upsets.
So he got a quick part timer (***an) under his belt for his confidence and then he gets lined up against a kinda faded overweight legend in MAB. Still no real tests domestically or
I went to that fight and the cut was a joke, from round 1 that was a no contest and MAB clearly was having real problems with the amount of blood on his face whvih was actually spraying onto the guys at ringside. Amirs fast starting was easily winning him points although not really trubling MAB as much as the cut was.
The cut never improved but the "doc" waited until round 5 so that it could then go to scorecards and Amir took the win. The crowd were not happy.
It was after this fight tht Amir lost me as fan.
In the lead up to the fight he had been talking about how much he respects MAB and how much we wanted to rematch prescott and how much he wanted to prove that he is worthy of being on the path he was on.
After the fight he refused MAB any kind of remtach and their appeal for it to be declared a no contest was denied. He then went on to say that he has now proved his greatness by defeating a legend (remember at LW he still had no real tests domestically or at euro level). By proving himslef a world level fighter (trained by Freddie, sparring with Manny blah blah blah) he doesnt need to worry about rematching prescott and will pursue a title shot instead !?!????

His win over MAB actually had him in the high rankings for a shot at the WBO with JMM himself at the time - but they effectively admitted they werent ready for him (a fact forgotten by many now)
So instead he jumps up to 140 and the FIRST fight he has at the weight was a title shot against Kotelnik !!!!
Kotelnik lost mainly due to slow AA style and Amirs work rate / activity. Nothing signficant hppened and Amir spend most of the time hitting arm and gloves but doing it all night will win you the fight. Watch Amir defend in this fight - because he clearly had no clue he wraps himslef into a shell like a turtle at certain points - it was actually kinda funny. Kotelnik never threw enuff punches really - but never really did, im sure thats why he was picked.
Most people know more about his career from this point - Salita: no comment, Paulie - his best performance imo, and then several trips down q street against Maidana.
I think the Paulie and Maidana fight put him on the radar in America.
Since then his arrogance has bordered on delusional and despite having stumbled several times he has never avenged a loss nor stopped getting lined up for the big money fights.
I am not calling him a bum or a coward because he is not - and he has made smart moves which mean he will probably retire very well off even if he never reaches the elite levels.
I just dont liek how much his whole career has been carefully crafted and manipulated meaning that I dont feel Amir really earned to be in the priviledged position he is in now.
He may be exciting but thats just a nice way of saying that he's vulnerable. His low ring IQ, willingness to trade and terrific engine would have made him a fantastic brawler but his lack of chin and real power means that no mtter how much you might like him he will not the last man standing unless you keep him in a cocoon so he never has to be involved in fighting his way to the top.
Khan has more exposure than more than half of the top 10 P4P list and yet he is nowhere near the list itself - that ***** aint rightComment
