Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Has One Eye on Devon Alexander Showdown

Amir Khan is ready to move up a weight divison and go straight into a world title fight.

Khan is planning to climb into the ring with IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander in America in December.

It’s a superfight that will represent a real gamble for the 26-year-old Bolton fighter, who is fed-up with trying to make the weight in his 140lbs light-welterweight division.

The former unified light-welterweight world champion is now ready to move up to the 147lbs weight category which will open up several big-fight opportunities.

Alexander is odds-on to win his next fight against Brit Lee Purdy next month – and Khan will be waiting in the wings.

Oh please let purdy beat Alexander now.
He'd probably knock khan out in the next fight if so!
    Big if but still!

This is a very good fight for Khan to take. Alexander hits hard enough to hurt, but his style is one Khan advantages work against. Both guys stand to gain from it, Alexander could look impressive and make an impression before a possible Mayweather fight.

        Easy win for Khan, IMO.

If this was a good year ago, I'd pick Khan, Devon stands at arms length, doesn't apply much pressure, doesn't have an inside game, doesn't commit to his punches as much as he should, pretty decent puncher at best, a good style for Khan really. Just that Khan isn't the same fighter who arguably beat Peterson, I like Devon in this one.

50/50 fight imo,its actually a pretty decent style match-up for Khan but after saturday i have a hard time favoring him over any of the top guys at 140/147

Easy win for Alexander. Khan is a very inaccurate fighter without any defence himself. Khan struggled with the likes of McCloskey and when he fought Diaz he was missing badly. Alexander is fast and agile and actually hits hard. No way Khan wins this fight. He might get stopped.
All this excuse about weight is hogwash. After moving up to 147lbs and getting embarassed by Alexander, Khan will claim the weight was the problem. The reality here is Khan knows Garcia would murder him and Peterson would embarass him almost killing his career.Losing back to back against same fighters would make him look terrible so to extend his career he will go for Alexander and get beat. He will then claim it was the weight and come back to the UK to rebuild then try another shot against someone else. Sadly there wont be any more easy fights for Khan.

Khan finally makes the excuse ive been waiting for!!!

Schaefer knows that the khan which turned up against daiz would get slaughtered!! against garcia or lucas.

Devon vs khan would be a good fight and winner gets mayweather

Its been a habit for Khan to have 'one eye' on a fighter just before he self destructs. Remember, he was going to beat Mayweather before Peterson?
