It happens. Larry Holmes fought more cans than I care to remember and even the great Ali fought his share of real cans in title fights.

It didn't make it acceptable. Ali and Holmes also fought all time greats and Ali especially has a much, much deeper resume.

I did not say it was acceptable but it is part of the history of the sport. I also would not compare Wlad's resume to Ali, ever. As far as Larry is concerned he fought some really horrible fighters. His best three wins were over a washed up Ali a highly overrated as well as protected Cooney and a fighter who didn't even win his title in the ring in Norton. And who could forget that he lost to a light heavyweight not once but twice. So, in my opinion Larry's career is slightly overrated.
