Khan was better with Roach...2 reasons why

Khans chin will never be good. No matter who trains him....so he will always be vulnerable ik that area....but

1- roach is an amazing offense trainer and he had khans offense so extrordinary d he made it hard to not focus on defending yourself from it.

2- with roach, khan had the pacquaio sparring which gave him a great gauge on just how good he was.

It seems like Virgil is taking away from wat made khan great which was his offense, even tho it was flawed. Now he tried to relax but he let's the opponent pile up on points as well as makin him feel like he has to answer back if he gets hit and that's when he really makes mistakes.

only time he got caught is when he stood still to long, when he moves around and throws the jab and the right and quickly moves again, he is impossible to hit, soon as he stops and stands still that's when he gets caught.

it was the same under roach, actually under roach he got hit more

he needs to learn he cant stand still not for a second, they need to work on on his stamina, cuz last night he looked a little gassed

Khan already has his offense, they need to work on his weakness which is his chin because when he gets caught while attacking then he would either go down or he would be hurt. Hunter is ok for him but its difficult to change a fighters habit after only two fights at 26 years old.

        Good post.

I also feel like the style that Hunter is trying to get Khan to fight is taking away his natural advantages and highlighting his flaws. However he has done well to improve Khan's reaction when he (inevitably) gets hit and hurt. More running and hugging, less going to war.

A mix of Roach's offence and Hunter's calmness would be good for Khan lol. If only it worked like that...

To be fair, under Roach he wasn't nearly getting knocked out by old guys who had their best days at lightweight.

Obviously it will take time for Hunter to fix Khans defence, he has too many bad habits stuck in from a long time of fighting that way. Whether Hunter can get rid of them remains to be seen, but I doubt it. I think we need to accept that Khan is an offensive fighter, he's not good defensively and he never will be. He doesn't have the temperament to fight that way, he always tries to trade when he's hit and hurt and opens himself up to counters.

That's my point, he has much less offense now so that time he spends movin n not doin nothin, he misses points while under roach he always moved and punched, now he just moves n doesn't punch to show patience.

the only sensible fight khan has used his brain is the kotelnik fight , and even he wasn't that much of a threat but it doe's go to show that khan can stick to a game plan and box for 12 rounds.imho i really think khan has struggled since ariza was ousted out , if you look at the maidana fight though khan was seriously hurt his legs were sort of there if people understand what im trying to say , now his legs seem to buckle every time he gets hit

khan definitely had the best run of his career with roach...beating kotelnik, maidana, malignaggi, judah and barrera..and i thought he won against peterson. against julio diaz he looked too tame and looked more reckless and sloppier than usual..

They took muscle from his legs and stacked it on to his elite neck
