Comments Thread For: Audley Admits: It's Looking Like it Could Be The End

The heavyweight mantra of always being a win away from contention perfectly encapsulates the career of Audley Harrison. However, the latest setback could finally spell the end for the 41-year old fringe contender.

Visiting American heavyweight Deontay Wilder checked his friendship at the door and was all business in blasting out Harrison in just 70 seconds of their supporting bout Saturday evening in Sheffield, England. A wild overhand right was enough to ignite a rally that saw a volley of punches fly from every direction before Wilder forced Harrison to the canvas.

I've got to laugh at the amount of people on here who said this was a good match up for Wilder.

This Heavyweight era is an absolute farce.

Audley's journey is over at last. He can retire a satisfied man having now completely mastered the art of the no resistance knockout defeat.

He won't retire, he'll win another Prizefighter and be cannon fodder for the next overgrown oaf to come along, he'll be blasted out in 1 again then say the same old and how he can't accept going out the way he did. Its a vicious circle.

Just retire the whole boxing community is so used to your cr4p we knew it would go exactly like that the moment the fight was signed.

If British Boxing Board renew Fraudley Harrison's licence I will never watch boxing again... A disgrace to call himself a boxer.... Please disappear and do the right thing for the sake of boxing.

To be fair, big Aud isn't exactly the first great fighter to suffer some losses in the twilight of his career to considerably lesser talents; it doesn't erase everything else that he's accomplished in this sport or hurt his legacy in any way.
