I thought a draw would have been fair. Although, the ref should have docked a point from Kahn for the clinch and holding Diaz head down. It is not a good sign for Kahn that he got hurt many times by a fighter well past his prime. The funniest part of the whole fight were the interviews, when Hunter and Kahn tried desperately to make it seem as if Diaz was some sort of elite fighter to lend some credibility to the fact than he was pushed to his limit by a well below elite fighter in Diaz.

In other words, Virgil may inadvertently be diluting some of Khan's actual strengths while trying to fix things that can't actually be fixed.

I think that could well be the big lesson here. Maybe 'fighting smart' just isn't right for him, given that he ultimately doesn't have the tools to do that.

Maybe Khan's 'all or nothing' approach is all that works for him. Overwhelming guys with his lightening handspeed might be all he's got, because you can't send a ****** into a chess match and expect it to turn out well.

That's definitely how it looked tonight anyway. Teach him how to tie up so when he inevitably gets tagged he knows how to play for time, and after that just let him cut loose. Whatever about his ability to beat the very best, he should be doing a lot better against the likes of Diaz than he was tonight.

Khan is still unsure of himself with a new trainer, so it was Diaz best chance to take advantage of this and he nearly did

He came in throwing bombs, head hunting for that one shot all through the fight

Everyone who Khan steps in the ring will do the same, its just a matter of if they will land it and when they land it, Khan tends to always pull through and find something

Bradley, Alexander, and even though NSB trashed him, Ortiz. I was more than ecstatic when I read that Peterson got the chance to shine. All it took was a legit fighter with all-around skill. If you couldn't see that then, well...

Khan is finished. And I agree with you about the ref. He had the nerve to shout at diaz for 'taunting' Kahn. Kahn got embarrased to be honest. I kinda feel sorry for him, Garcia put the nail in his career. He was fighting scared the whole fight.
