Comments Thread For: Arum Confident Marquez-Bradley, Not Floyd, Goes on 9/14

Bob Arum confirmed that the unthinkable, even for boxing, will not occur.

The Hall-of-Fame promoter stressed Wednesday that there will not be two pay-per-view boxing events Sept. 14, preventing what would be a severe disservice to fighters, fans, promoters, premium cable companies and anyone else interested in the health of the boxing business. Arum is open to moving the Juan Manuel Marquez-Timothy Bradley pay-per-view card from Sept. 14 to an October date if Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights Sept. 14, but Arum also said that he won’t move Marquez-Bradley if anyone other than Mayweather, including Mexican sensation Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, is the headliner of another proposed Sept. 14 pay-per-view show.

History says Arum is right. If I were him and Floyd/Alexander is made I would go ahead with Bradley vs JMM on that date anyway. Would be the bigger fight.

There's no need to go head to head on ppv.You both lose because it's a zero sum game.

I actually agree with Arum here. 9/14 is a Mexican holiday weekend and if Mayweather doesn't fight Canelo, he should move back.

Sometime before Guerrero was confirmed, Mayweather said Alexander was the front runner. And there's a sense that Mayweather is staying at 147.

Golden boy reserved the date first so I think Bob has to take that into consideration. Well he doesn't have to but he should. We are the ones who lose here.

I think that was Floyd messing with people.
