The tax rate is lowe rbut lets be honest-the last pac/jmm fight had far more JMM fans in attendance than manny fans-I think the cheers when manny went down and when the victory was announced prove this. But I'm sure manny can easily fill an arena still.

That said, Manny's fight with tim didn't sell well. So Bob knows a Manny fight against a non entity coming off the KO wont sell well enough for TR to make money and pay manny $20 mil. So they are taking the fight to china where the casino will give TR enough to offset the reduction in ppv sales and the cost to TR to put on the show and air it live in the US.

Three years ago I would agree with you, but not now. He'll do better than margarito since Pacquiao has visibly declined since then and Rios is much more in his prime than margarito was when they fought.

They can probably make more there on the site fee than what they can in Vegas in gate money, plus tax as you said. For PPV numbers it won't make a difference, as long as it's scheduled for prime time in the US. More importantly, it's opening up this potentially huge market to boxing, so far so good. That's very important to Arum and HBO, but even Pac could benefit if he's got a few years left.

there is potential but this may end up being like Tyson in Japan- a onetime money grab.shimming is over 30. Manny is old. Are there any other well know pacific islander/asian fighters that could be marketed to the chinese public?

the ppv's are tough because they cost alot to produce and the fights are in the morning to accomodate us tv. press coverage will suffer too.

I don't think it's a one off, there's another card in Macau in July headlined by Zou lol. It's really picking up steam. But you're right, they better have enough Asian fighters to showcase. Zou will be guided very well I'm sure. There's another Chinese "world champ" they could showcase, and they have a decent amateur program so there should be more guys coming out. They don't all have to be top talents, see how well Sturm did in his much smaller home market.

Doesn't Matter; Rios/Alvarado BOTH Get KO'd By Pacquiao

Rios doesn't deserve Pacquiao. Alvarado should be the right choice. Pacquaio has fought everyone and is a marquee fighter. Rios has done nothing. Alvarado at least deserves a Pacquaio fight before Rios, for drumming that rube recently.

that makes sense. zou can fight prob fight 4 times a year next 3 yrs so if at least 1 has a manny fight it could be profitable.

Pac might end up not fighting at all but he needs a tune-up. If it happens, I hope Alvarado gets it. The guy deserves a nice paycheck.

They want his next fight in Asia so he can get a BS decision probably. Alvarado would get beat up by Pac but I think Rios has a good chance to beat Pac def. Even if Pac beats Rios he will take some brutal punishment doing it and will have even less left for any fights after that.
