WBA currently lists Floyd Mayweather Jr as the WBA Super-Welterweight "Super" World Champion. Prior to the Trout/Canelo fight, WBA listed Austin Trout as the WBA Super-Welterweight World Champion.

After Canelo beat Austin Trout, he was Awarded the WBA Super-Welterweight "Super" world Champion belt..... a title that Floyd Mayweather Jr has held since he defeated Cotto...

Therefore, there are TWO champions with the same title/belt.

The title he won wasn't a highly regarded title. Floyd is the WBA champ. Canelo, to me, is the WBC champ with a less regarded WBA strap.

according to the WBA official site, he (Floyd) is the Super Champion, still has Trout on there as just the regular champ. But according to ESPN, Canelo won the SUPER Champion belt/title.

Canelo Alvarez defeated Austin Trout in a light middleweight title unification bout at the Alamodome in San Antonio on April 20, 2013. Alvarez successfully defended his WBC light middleweight belt and won Trout's WBA Super World light middleweight belt.

Floyd should have been stripped since its going to be over a year before defending the problem is having a Champion, interim champion and a Super Champion in the same division somebody should sue WBA

I didn't see the WBA give him the weird looking Super Belt after the fight, so I assume he just as the regular title. I might be wrong, but I never saw it.



Thats the regular WBA belt Trout had.

Floyd is the WBA champion. Ratings always favour the Super Champ over the Regular one, Wladimir over Povetkin, etc etc.

As a Trout fan, I always said he should go after a proper title instead of the one he had.

In this sense, Canelo isn't a unified champion until he has Mayweathers belt.
