I seriously think Nonito Donaire needs to drop Robert Garcia

Seriously man, training him over the phone? lol, Robert Garcia gets paid more than those two guys strength trainer Bazel and assistant trainer Schwartz who work with Nonito the entire training camp every day. Its messed up really.

I think Nonito needs to go with Joe Goossen, he would be a much better fit since Nonito used to train at Goossens gym when he was a teenager.


Garcia just comes in the last week to collect a check, he is the Mexican American version of Freddie Roach, they use the same style of high offensive coaching and lack defensive training.

Also a lot of guys on here will say well Mikey Garica is technical, but you are forgetting Mikey doesn't train with Robert, his father is the one who trains him and some other guy he works with, Robert just works the corner because he can speak louder and give louder instructions than the old man.

I agree. Donaire has had a fairly easy time with most of his oppoent's, but to be good for a very long time, a fighter and his trainer have to be greatly committed to training.

The fact that Donaire admitted that they didn't take a serious opponent like Rigodeaux seriously, is a problem. Part of that problem is Donaire himself, but another significant part is the trainer. The trainer should have known that Rigondeaux would create significant match up problems.

Lots of time should have been spent working on cutting off the ring and avoiding those occasional strait lefts.

Had team Donaire did that, Donaire would have most likely been victorious. Instead, Donaire consistently allowed Rigondeaux to escape the confrontation while slipping in enough strait lefts here and there to win the fight.

What's done is done. But Donaire should realize that he needs to move forward with a more committed trainer.

Yeah Donaire is a huge part of the problem he has an ego. His wife also tries to run the show way to much, just like with the Victor Conte situation. He won't train at Oxnard he wants Garcia to bow to him and bend backward just to please him and makes Robert drive to the bay area, Nonito knows that Robert has to train a lot of fighters why doesn;t he just train at Garcias gym? Nonito hasn;t even visited that gym one time even when he was in So cal he never drops by there.

i dont know all the details but if what you say is true bro yeah Nonito and his wifey needed this piece of humble pie. thats lot of diva ish going on if its true?

Nonito should either focus on his family or his boxing fully at least when in camp.

I think Donaire has been with Garcia for a while now. I would agree with a lot of people on here saying he should get with Virgil Hunter.

He's from Northern Cali and so is Nonito makes cents.
