Angel Garcia, the controversial father/trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, directed some of his venom at cable network HBO. He believes the network is not showing enough support to American fighters and focusing too much of their television time on boxers who reside outside of the United States.

He feels the split between HBO and Golden Boy Promotions is a good thing for his son, because he feels Showtime is providing a lot more support to American boxers. He was angered by the network’s coverage given to China’s two-time Olympic gold medal winner Zou Shiming, noting that American Olympians are not receiving the same level of support and fighting for scraps. He seems to take offense to foreign fighters coming to the US and making millions here. I wonder why that angers him? Foreign fighters are some of the most exciting and explosive, most definitively fun to watch. I guess he'll be bitter for a very, very long time.

Even with that said, what he said about HBO is false. Boring American fighters keep getting dates on HBO continuously, check Dawson, Bradley, Hopkins etc.
