Canelo's career will move on long after Floyd has retired and thats the way his people need to plan out their future! Yes its a pay day he can't have against anyone else but I wouldn't alter the kids progression for Mayweather!
Just move on and look for his own promotion build up and not be concerned with Mayweathers business! Fighting Mayweather doesn't define this kids career, hell its just getting started!

He does NOT need to fight Cotto, Cotto is done he doesn't need to be hurt in the sport. You Cotto fans and any boxing fans need to understand when a fighter who has competitive spirit is finished!! He's done leave him alone! Ray

If Arum does this, he's going to try and piss on Floyd's PPV.
Either that or he's trying to take Mayweather's "Mexican" PPV numbers.
I hardly think that matters as he'll be fighting Alexander in the fall

If Arum does try to do this then GBP will put on a monster card and flip the finger to TR. TR no longer has the muscle to keep up with GBP

I doubt that... Arum knows what he's doing. GB doesn't seem to know what they are doing. Floyd can only sell a sept.14 card with a Mexican opponent.

Arum has played this as well as you could play. The last time people saw Marquez was when he sent Pacquiao face first into the canvas. One of the most significant wins in Mexican boxing history. So that image is still fresh in peoples minds. No doubt Marquez's popularity sky rocketed. The Mexican fans will pay to watch Marquez fight against Bradley.

I think the only way Floyd succeeds on Sept.14 is if he fights Canelo. If he goes out there and chooses to fight Lamont Peterson or someone, he's not going to do as well. The Mexican fans make up a large portion of the PPV revenue I think Arum said they make up over 60%.

So next thing you know, people will be saying that the P.R fanbase is the only reason Mayweather is afloat
Not saying that just saying I guarantee you mexicans and mexican Americans help this guy out a lot when the ppv numbers are released. And he knows it. If he doesn't fight canelo he's ppvs aren't gonna sell as much because hell have a pissed off fan base at him.

i'll go with the better-matched fight if they go on the same date.

it's true that fighter's popularity is a big factor in a ppv but let's leave that to the casuals and fanboys.

My opinion is that Mayweather will never fight Canelo or any other 154 pounder. I think he will fight welterweights until he retires. I think showtime gives him a huge payday no matter who he fights. Canelo will no longer agree to be part of Floyd's fights unless he is Floyd's opponent. Golden Boy won't have Floyd and Canelo going head to head on the same day in different events so Canelo will have to fight Cotto on some other day than September 14th just as he had to let Floyd have the May 4th date. Canelo is a big star but Floyd is still a bigger star.

I think Mayweather-Canelo will happen later this year.
