People can slate him etc, but they need to remember the best ever Wladimir was like at age24 to 28. He was very similar and got caught.

Tyson is flawed, and hes work in progress, but hes beaten chisora, kevin Johnson, and now Cunningham.

Steve Cunningham a very good fighter. 6ft 3 back in Ali day would be considered a big heavyweight.

I thought from round 3 onwards Tyson Fury schooled Cunningham. My critercism of fury is that he tried to do a carl froch, and made the fight to hard for him to entertain the crowd on his US debut.

Anyway cut the guy some slack, hes not perfect but hes bloomin entertaining.

......a point well made about Peter Fury's absence from the big night in NYC.

Tyson reverted back to the red-mist, macho style of fighting that makes him hugely entertaining but also hugely vulnerable as well.

He was just too pumped-up and seemed to forget that Cunningham was a live opponent and would be particularly dangerous in the opening rounds.

Peter Fury, who really seems to have got Tyson in shape and has the strength of character to force his nephew to listen to him and box to orders, would have kept the lad far,far calmer in the last few hours before the fight and stopped the dangerous showboating, hands-low stuff.

Peter did not get a US Visa - presumably due to a few scapes in the past - and it was left to Clifton Mitchell to try and keep Tyson grounded.

A good win for Tyson; but he still needs to listen and learn and Peter Fury's very strong hand on the tiller is extremely important as well.

Stop crying about 'fair'. Heavyweight is upward of 200lb. There's no 215 limit. If they share a division, it's fair. If a guy's big or heavy, it's up to his opponent to use his perceived disadvantages as advantages.

Of course it's still "fair", there's no rules broken and no-one was screwed going in. However the weight advantage was the only reason Fury won. The fight wasn't determined on skills or heart it was determined by mass and if you didn't see that then you need to stop watching boxing.

You just need to look at Peter Fury's twitter timeline, he was raging with Tyson's performance. He gave him 2/10, said he didn't put into practice what they had been working on for 2 months. That was obvious, he was going in for a fight but this is boxing. Once he calmed down a bit, got his hands up and got the jab going he knocked Cunningham out. Seems like Peter is the only person he will listen to.

It's great to be big, but you've got to be able to impose the size. Of course skill, athletic ability and heart were among the determining factors. How about Fury's footspeed to close USS down and get his weight on him, how about his quick hands letting off combinations to Steve's body to help slow him down, how about the powers of recovery and heart he showed to get off the deck and systematically break a fast guy down?

Fury impressed me very much yesterday. Not only did I think he wasn't gonna come back after that knockdown, I thought he was gonna get stopped that round.

After a certain point it looked like the fight would be going his way though and then the knockout came.

It's been a while since I enjoyed watching HW's.

I'm not sure Fury can learn to effectively fight behind his jab, it doesn't seem to be in him. He needs to be the aggressor, he got knocked down after he threw a lazy jab without doubling it up. I think he'd have lost a decision if he decided to box.

For a guy that tall, tough, he's pretty good on the inside.
He seems to have a natural ability at 'fighting dirty', too, look at the way he used his forearm to create space before the K.O. punch.

Fury impressed me, and didnt in the same sentence.
Meaning he can improve. But he beat a 2 time cruiserweight champ who never been stopped, and Fury stopped him, so has done better than anyone ever has against him.
