Fury HAD to win this fight. I said month before the fight Cunnigham has no chance. He's just simply to small. (I wish he would just move down to CW and get a title shot. But that's another topic) And I thought Fury knew he was to small, and would come out strong with the jab, work the body and start breaking Steve down by the late rounds. The first round was alright, but here's why I was disappointed with Tyson. All the pre fight antics and trash talk etc, I don't mind. Fury has got a great personality outside the ring......but when his arrogance came into the ring, and he tried to intimidate Steve before the bell, pushed him after the round, etc... That was completely unncessary, and I think it started rubbing off onto his performance in the ring. Because in round 2, and I think maybe round 3, he was just lacking discipline man. All the showboating got to his head and he looked slow, sluggish and sloppy for a bit, and I think it was due to his lack of discipline and showboating.
Anyway, I never thought Fury was in trouble or in real danger of losing the fight. But was bad to see the lack of focus because if he really thinks he's going on this "15 year undefeated run" and when he fights the big boys, that chit won't fly. Plain and simple. His big clumsy ass is going to get KOd if he doesn't start focusing more in the ring, and save the theatrics for out of the ring, IMO.
He was on the biggest stage, and knew this fight would be a step up for him, on paper at least, and would lead to bigger and better fight.... And this big old klutz gets dropped in the 2nd round. If he would of just stayed focused and forgot about all of the ****** antics in the round and was fighting as serious as he looked from the ring entrance, from the first round, and taken care of business the right way............ It would of been a far better performance, or "coming out party," IMO.
I still think Fury gives problems to most HWs, due to size alone. People seem to forget he's only 24? Young as hell. If he can keep getting in better shape, stop with the - in the ring antics, and continue to make improvements on some small things (and keep his hands up for gods sake) and work on his discipline, think he can set him self up for a nice pay day with Wlad. However that should NOT happen this year, or anytime soon IMO, I think he needs to do those things ans I would like him to fight some serious contenders until then, so that he can have some good names on his résumé by the time he fights Wlad (lol)
