Because I just watched a fight where the non-boxer in Canelo was bob & weaving, slipping, dodging punches like your generic version of a African-American slick boxer. In fact, he started showboating with it at one point in the fight.

Surprised to see so many accusing robbery. I thought Canelo won easy: the only guy hitting with power punches. Even in the rounds were Canelo was taking a break I was impressed with his defense making Trout miss and pay with the right uppercut.
I didn't watch the Showtime feed but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that Paulie was praising Trouts pitty-pat jab style to high heaven. To me it seemed like Trout wasn't being effective with his offense. No pop behind his punches until round 10. This was no schooling ala Rigo-Donaire.

Did a wonderful job in "whooping" him when he was being backed up to the ropes and limited to a handful of punches through a large portion of that fight.

Well, if that was an audition for a Floyd matchup, neither of these guys did much for that promotion. Unless Floyd has slipped immensely (we'll see soon enough), then neither Canelo nor Trout pose any threat whatsoever to Floyd. Canelo literally has nothing at all but a puncher's chance against Floyd. He is so damn flat footed and slow with his feet that he will be made to look foolish if he gets in there with Mayweather. People keep saying how polished he's become, but that's b.s. He looks awkward and amateurish still. Imagine a 22yr old Canelo vs a 22 yr old ODLH. Having said all of this, I thought Canelo deserved the win tonight by 3 or 4 pts. Trout was busier, but he really was not effective IMO. He doesn't commit to any punches at all. He pushes he majority of his 'power shots' and doesn't get his legs into anything. It's all upper body arm punches from Trout and that's why he never came close to hurting Canelo. I'm amazed that he even has 14 KOs on his ledger.

Kind of like Rigondoux did last week against Donaire right? Except Canelo wasn't being as annoying with it and running around the right. He looked much more of a smooth operator and aesthetically pleasing to the eye with his defense.
I mean, he out-defended the advertised "slick boxer" tonight and dodged more punches than he did.
