I remember thinking the tournament in Bloodsport was fucking amazing when I was a young lad. Hilarious to watch it back now.

The boxing in the first is still more watchable than a large majority of the boxing movies I've ever seen.

The film is a bit idealistic and quaint at times. Stallone was inspired to write the movie after watching Ali-Wepner. Ironically, i saw the first two films a few weeks back and don't plan to see them anytime soon. Stallone's acting and speech is difficult to accept at times. Its a bit cliche at times.

However, i do like the original score and the concept is inspiring to some. Raging Bull was directed by Scorcesse who admitted he never followed much boxing did much better with the fight scenes.

I dunno bout this, but the composition and score in the first 4 movies was dope as hell

Going the distance used to be my alarm tbh

Obviously, the actual boxing scenes are rubbish in terms of realism and drama, especially to boxing heads like us.

But Rocky 1 is an absolutely beautiful film. 2-5 are crap, while 6 I'm sorta OK with it cos I consider it a sweet bookend (and in my mind, I've deleted 2-5).

But Rocky 1, I consider a masterpiece of American cinema. Revisiting as an adult, I was shocked how great it was. I've strongly recommended it to a few people, who have reported back the same thing - they couldn't believe how great it actually is.

The boxing is just a metaphor really.

And I know it's a fairytale but there are some some scenes that are so emotionally raw and moving.

Idk the original rocky won an academy award... Has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is loved by people from every corner of the earth. Of course none of that means nothing NSB has spoken...Rocky sucks !
