Inflicting sustainable pressure (especially to the body) while inside represents the main tool to nullify a southpaw counter puncher.
If Canelo can't do this, he will lose the fight. As simple as that.

Just the fact that we are discussing whether the decision might be 'fair' or not, shows what a sad state that rounds judging in boxing is in. Far too uneven and subjective. Too many incompetent judges who are not held accountable for bizarre round scoring that can make or break a fighter's career.

A national boxing commission might be a step in the right direction. Also instant replay (like most other sports have) to review knock-downs and cuts caused by head butts/punches. Just sayin'...

I love Camelo and respect Trout a great deal , only way i know to keep from getting robbed is not leave it in the judges hands . really I'm so excited about this fight , i feel like a school girl !

Just a guess: Trout by Majority Decision. Canelo may hurt him late making a case for a rematch later this year.

He can always use it as an excuse, if he loses, but I don't think he will. Trout is pretty much a class act, and I wish him well.

Initially I was thinking Trout all the way (boxer beats puncher). I was surprised that Canelo took the fight. But upon further examination (I watched Cotto-Trout again) I'm thinking Canelo may overwhelm Trout in the corners where he had a tendency to just ball up when under attack. I like defense, but he's was covering up too long without throwing something back. I don't know if Trout can get away with this fighting a younger and probably more accurate puncher. I didn't see anything in the Cotto fight that made me feel like Trout had exceptional power either. So, Trout will have to box Canelo to death to win this fight.

Canelo has hand speed and power. He looks to have good movement but he's been in with guys he could do what he wanted to with. If Canelo is like Rios (against Abril and Alvarado II) or Donaire (vs. Rigo) effective side to side movement accompanied by a stiff jab and an occasionally consistent straight right will spell diaster for the young cashcow-to-be. We don't know if Canelo can hit a moving target that hits back at the same time. If he can, he will have a chance to be an all-time great. With a dominating performance Canelo becomes the real deal in the critics eyes.

This is a no win situation for Canelo because unless he knocks Trout out people are gonna try and say Trout was robbed.

Canelo has a no jab tho.. Thats gonna be the difference.. He can walk down blown up jr welterweights and beat them up without using a jab..
But Trout is a different animal.. Trout is the bigger man, and pops the jab non stop, throwin hes a tought southpaw and goes to the body too? And hes faster than canelo handspeed and footspeed wise.. I dont see how Canelo wins this..
You cant pressure a southpaw boxer with no jab

Trout took a close decision in ny against cotto im sure he has improved and can beat canelo who is not on the level of a cotto if trout keeps canelo at a distance and uses the jab to set up openings he should be fine hes the bigger guy more technical

He should assume the worst, and make an effort to try and hurt Canelo, or put on a boxing exhibition.

If there's any close rounds, they're going to Canelo.
