Do you believe in "Old Overnight".

I always hear this expression. What do you guys think is it a fact or a myth? I cant think of anytime myself ive seen a fighter get old overnight. If some of you have can you please point out the some examples for me thanks.

No, I think it's gradual but some people only notice it all of a sudden in one particular fight.

Exactly its gradual and usually during inactivity, or none committed training.

Nobody has a fight, and then another one the next day... theres generally 6 mos in between and a lot of things can go wrong... you let yourself blow up in weight, prepare wrong, wrong opponent, wrong style, drain yourself etc etc

Yea it happens, normally though there is some decline then all of a sudden there is a straw that breaks the camels back.

In boxing you can lose it in a heartbeat though, even in the middle of a fight.

Yes, because 80% of the fight is the training camp and if you stop getting in good camps, it makes you seem as if you declined dramatically overnight.

Yes i do. All a guy has to do is lose interest in boxing, not train as hard, or put on too much weight in before camp and he wont be as good as his previous fight

An example would be Aydin IMO

Last I remember and this is just my opinion was Mosley vs Floyd. Mosley had just destroyed Margarito and beat Mayorga albeit lackluster performance was expected to be competitive.

I know, I know it's Floyd but Mosley was expected to perform not "survive" plus I think he had turned 40 I believe around that time and I remember saying he was really going to turn 40. Just my 2 cents.. But yes I do believe in turning old overnight.

Vitali finally looked his age against Chisora.

Mosley vs floyd was a good example as well.

Yes it can happen in one fight, because as others said, fights are spaced out 6, sometimes 12 months. And then combine say a particular style match up and that extra age and they can look old or past it.

Say mosley vs floyd, well that was a full year after margarito and fights vs completely different styles. So even if mosley was getting slower it didnt show against margo who is slow as balls. Or DLH vs Pac where DLH was drained as hell and fighting someone way better than forbes. THough he looked pretty bad against forbes IMO but it was enough to win just like vitali looked bad against chisora just chisora is so **** it was enough to beat him. I think vitali vs haye that vitali will really look his age, his reflexes are slipping, hes slower now.

Actually I think vitali-Chisora is like where DLH was at with forbes and if the Haye fight ever gets made in freaking 2014 or whatever it will look like DLH-Pac.

I've seen it several times, but can't remember exactly who the fighters were.
