if Arum doesn't want to promote him and thinks he sucks, then break his contract and let him sign with someone else

he just had his breakthrough fight, Arum should spinning the hype machine the other way and trying to build on his next 'unbeaten' star
I don't think Arum doesn't want to promote him or that Arum thinks Rigondo sucks... Arum's in a conundrum... how do you promote someone with superstar skills but with a boring style...

time to create a Dinero Rigo persona

i dont know what Arum's agenda is other than to try to have Rigo change his style...which at this point, i dont think Rigo is willing to do

That's basically it, change his style. Arum is a promoter, and a promoters job is to make money. Rigo will not make him any money as he has a very boring style. It's a boxing purist style but even then it's not a friendly one. It'll be very hard to get fans to buy fights knowing they're going to see almost no action and a track meet.

Rigo is incredibly skilled defensive fighter, who doesn't seem like he can or at least doesn't want to have the tiniest bit of forward offense in his arsenal. As someone said before it looks like hes trying to fight amateur style and score points.

Not taking anything away from him, he put on a good performance and beat Donaire easily...I just can see where it'd be hard for a promoter to put forth their money to try to make fights, when theres very little chance of a return on it.

I took my friend to cuba and he was amazed on how there wasn't any evident proof of color barrier at all and basically everyone "ate together" if you know what i mean
I am half-Cuban and I think it's a myth that there is no racism in Cuba. There is racism everywhere but having said that Cubans love Cubans and they are big patriots, it's hard for me to visualize white Cubans saying that they won't cheer about Cuban because he or she is black. Also, there are lot of interracial marriages and couples in Cuba, but that's not to say that there is no racism, there is just like anywhere. Arum should put Yuri and Guillermo on the same card in Miami and there will be a big crowd for sure.

Running? Most of the fight Rigondeaux was no more than 3 feet away. It seems if a fighter doesn't stand still and trade morons say they are running. Boxing doesn't work like that, go find another sport.

With regards to Rigo's skill, I don't think anyone is dis*****g that. Even those who say he is boring is in a consensus that Rigo is very skilled. The problem IMO is not his skill but his style. It is very amateurish and I don't mean that in a negative way. I think what Bob is trying to do is not put down Rigo but challenge him to engage more. A good example I think is Floyd. Like Rigo he is a defensive fighter, but their comparison ends there. Floyd tends to stay in the pocket and therefore resulting to more exchanges. Rigo on the other hand relies more on his footwork/movement resulting to less exchanges where the "boring" comes in for some people. I'd like to think that Arum believes in Rigo coz if not then he wouldn't have re-signed him/offered the Donaire bout.
