Does this quote show mental weakness?

I am a semi fan of Wladimir Klitschko. I to this day believe he will panic against another elite fighter who puts pressure on him. I to this day still believe he is weak mentally.

I was reading one of his interviews and he repeatedly stressed how he didn't like to get hit.

“I don’t like to get hit.I probably wouldn't do this sport if I was getting hit that much.”

It's funny, because sometimes one quote really shows gives you a lot of insight into a boxer. There is a reason Wlad fight the way he does... he will never change his style not because it's part of Manny's 'plan' not because it's the most effective style.. but because he simply does not like to get hit.

I do not blame him.. the accumulated punishment from Purrity-Sanders-Brewster is no joke..

    On a side note:
Shouldn't the fans of a certain boxer also be Wlad fans?

That one quote roars of 'self preservation, health first'

Nobody likes getting hit in boxing besides rios maybe.....that's not mentally weak.....it's true

Plus he can say this n it won't be a big deal....if the other fighter your talking about says it he would get burned at the cross cuz there two different standards for each fighter

wladimir is not mentally weak , he wouldn't of regrouped his career together again after those devastating defeats i would say the opposite to what you said , imo he is mentally strong , more than others.

        Spot on.

Wlad seems like a cool dude and is dominating a poor division but I definitely don't hate on him for being "safety first".

What guy in their right mind would prefer to get punched in the head? Unless your Rios.

He's really composed and discipline when he gets hit, he holds on and recovers and than sticks to the jab. For A LOT of other fighters the game plan would have gone out the window.

No boxer likes to get hit, some have no choice and are willing to take punches, but none of them like it. Ultimately, his actions speak louder than words, if you do think that shows mental weakness. Wlad has fought everyone, and fought them for a long time now. He wouldn't do that if getting hit bothered him much.

Heavyweight is a different ball game, most guys possess the power to ko you with one punch, wlad fights smart and although i dislike watching him fight he's gained my respect. He's dominated for long its not his fault theres no heavyweight to match his skill, he is in a league of his own.

He's a heavyweight... Of course he doesn like to get hit these guys have huge power. No heavyweight (maybe even boxer) enjoys being hit lol. Wlad is mentally strong. No doubt about that.

It's obvious the OP is a reincarnation of a former Wladimir hater - most probably Skittlez, but I can't say for certain.

It's not comparable to Floyd either. Wladimir got in the ring with the fighter everyone deemed his biggest threat (David Haye). Mayweather didn't get in the ring with the guys deemed his greatest threat (Manny, Martinez, Margarito, etc.)
