No. Floyd already tried that gimmick and failed miserably.

Urkel could barely sell in his home town.

That question is built on ones perception of him, think you need to get more specific.

Floyd could never had become the people's champ. He developed his money persona to sell tickets. Sugar Ray Leonard never had to do that because he had the personality and he came along at the right time.

SRL came along at a time when boxing was still a premier sport in the States.. It was still widely talked about by all the casuals and constantly on the front pages of newspapers/sports related sources.. Leonard didn't had to market himself.. his era and his country did that for him.

Muhammad Ali came along at a time when boxing was EVEN MORE popular and he transcended the sport due to political issues that existed in his country during that era.

Also Ali+Leonard had natural charisma, they were quick witted and charming. Floyd lack the wits and charisma of those two.

Nigel Benn and Frank Bruno were the people's champ of England. I don't think Non-Brits understand just how popular those two were in the UK. Bruno and Benn were adored .. yet Lennox Lewis could never had become the people's champ... He just didn't have the personality for it. .Neither did Floyd.

The reason Lennox never had to develope a fake personality is that Lennox is an ATG HARD PUNCHING SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT.

Which means all he had to do was basically show up and hit people. He didn't need to promote himself.. he's a freaking 6'5 245 pound elite big puncher... He just had to fight.

Floyd on the other hand was a 130 fighter-135 fighter. It's always much much harder to promote a small fighter like that without the 'something extra.

FLOYD HAD TO create the money persona to market himself because as he moved up in weight he even lost most of his powers.

So what we have is a 5'7 defensive ATG with a boring tactical style. There is no possible way Floyd could have been a big draw if he didn't create something.

It's just harder to promote Non-Heavyweights who didn't have an exciting style.

If Floyd remained humble.. he will just be the original Andre Ward.

That being said.. I 100% believe if Floyd was a heavyweight.. he would never ever had to create a fake persona.

A humble heavyweight version of Floyd vs Wladimir Klitschko will sell 2 Million+ PPV.. without any of the added 'money persona'

Yes if he wasn't ****** trash, or acted like a wannabe rapper. Also the severity of his ducking didn't help either.

                Ya great point there.

It's not like if Floyd never developed his money persona he would have fought Paul Williams or Margarito... He still wouldn't.. he just won't make any excuses.
