its conceivable that boxing today will be looked at similarly to the steroid era of baseball.

    fighters are prolonging their careers.

i can't say for sure about anybody outside of the guys who have been popped, but i have su****ions about everybody.

      PEDs exist on all sports.

I like to live in a state of blissful ignorance but as soon as a test comes back dirty, no matter if the B sample is clean or they have a doctors note, they are dirty in my book.

Since Lance Armstrong case ive decided that is my policy for all sports as well. No media image is too clean.

I agree. I feel PED use is rampant in boxing(if not all sports). The drug testing procedures by the commissions is an absolute travesty.
In the wild west world of boxing, the risk/reward swings so heavily towards the risk of taking the peds for the benefits it brings compared to the consequences.

I now have taken the position that any fighter not taking some sort of random blood and urine testings for a match is a PED user.

I mean who would have really predicted that these guys would be drug cheats?

Mosley, Berto, Peterson, Tarver, Wach, Botha, Bey, and so on. From the looks of it, some of them are still on them too, but we won't know because some promoters brush the results under the carpet.

Rigondeaux at least participated in the VADA testing for the Donaire match. And its not like he knew that fight was coming up and could cycle around it.
Not that this proves he is clean, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt much more than the mountain of other fighters doing absolutely nothing.

Random blood and urine tests in the 3 month period before a fight still leaves a hell of a long time when a fighter could be doping.

Year round random blood and urine is the way forward for boxing. But even then weve seen many athletes cheat that system for years before they get caught. Even when they get caught often it was to do with a lab being outed or an insider spilling beans rather being caught in tests.

I agreed with the title but the reasoning is faulty. Physique does not indicate steroid use. Especially not in a sport that requires the level of training boxing does. Guys use them for recovery. Think of it this way: few guys get caught. So, take the number of guys caught and multiply it by about a dozen. People don't think their favorite fighter will do it because their character is above that. When you're dragging in training and your career may be saved by a little supplementation, it becomes as easy as breaking the speed limit.
