Same applies to a Rios. He would've gotten spun, and countered worse than what Abril did.

Rios' biggest asset is cutting the ring off, and infighting. Since when did Rios not know how to cut the ring off???
Rios didn't cut off the ring on Alvarado... that's why he lost

I don't think anything Robert was sayin was getting through to Nonito. You could tell (as I'm sure Robert could too) that Donaire was completely zoned out. He looked like he was completely unengaged. It's the same look you see in a lot of fighters eyes when they're losing, and they can't believe it (Chad Dawson comes to mind as well). They've hit their opponent with their best shot, nothing is working, and they have no plan B. When things aren't going like they 100% imagined it was supposed to go, it's like they go in to some other hemisphere - they become completely unattached.

Nonito was sitting in the corner between rounds (especially towards the end of the fight) and I can imagine all he heard at the time was Charlie Browns teacher talking (wha whaa wha wha, whaa wha wah whhhaa). He was probably thinking to himself, "Damn, and I just won the 2012 FOTY last night!! WTF???"

Robert was saying the right things, Nonito just wasn't hearin it. He was just too mentally far gone at that point.

He might have been a bit flustered by Casamayor's presence across the ring.

Horrible repressed thoughts of Casa owning him as a fighter were suddenly becoming vivid and he completely lost all focus.

Robert is hiding somewhere in the back of the gym like:
