    Either way it was a close fight, one which Trout couldn't have won looking at 2 of the official scorecards.

    The difference is how people score. You can argue ALL day long about how you think your method is correct, however scoring is subjective, and they both in won different peoples eyes - a big clear equal split too.
    Well scoring is subjective to a certain extent. There are rules to scoring under the 10 point must system and you can score for activity ie aggression but it has to be EFFECTIVE aggression.

    You can't just throw a ton of punches and miss most of them and win. Trout didn't hit Canelo all night, he hit him with maybe 5 significant shots the entire night and that's no an exaggeration.

      cong**** on your bet win. Canelo did really take it up a gear. like he said he takes it up a notch depending on how good his opponent is.

        They can be close rounds but if the judges are giving all the close rounds to one fighter, then it won't reflect on the score cards.
        I do understand what you mean that a round is so close it can go to either guy and they could be many in a fight.

        This fight had a lot of rounds that could had been scored depending of what the judge (or viewers) likes.

          Exactly and that's my only point. Take the Cotto vs Mayweather fight, I thought it was very competitive but gave Mayweather 8 of the 12 rounds.

          Now if you see that, you might think I was blind in my scoring but even though some of the rounds were close, most of the close one's I scored for Mayweather.

          The numbers don't reflect in the actual competitiveness of the fight. I scored it 116-112 for Canelo but there were some really close rounds.

              Canelo certainly has "it" whatever "it" is. I don't know if I would call him a superstar yet in the US (in Mexico he is without a doubt) but only because I think there is another level he can reach beyond his current status.

                The only thing missing is skill on elite level which we have yet to see if he has. He's definitely is a very, very good fighter but if he beats let's say, Martinez or Mayweather, then we are talking something on another level.

                  Total = 116 112

                  Before some of you jump all over me, I scored it twice and got the same result. People have to understand that you can have close rounds and still give most of them to one fighter.

                  I thought Canelo's defense was the key in this fight, not his power. Trout threw a lot but he missed a lot. You have to have EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION, it can't just be throwing a ton of punches.

                  Canelo landed the cleaner shots, dropped Trout in the 7th and made him miss a lot. I was really impressed with Canelo, he showed another dimension a lot of people didn't know he had.
                  Happy collecting, these are times when the LA version of cua surface, I'm sure.

                    Yea, then he would have proven to be excellent, the only way to reach that very top level of stardom is to have "it" and then prove to also be one of if not the best out there.

                    I wouldn't say he needs to win those fight though he just needs to give them hell and prove he is pretty much their equal, although winning would certainly be better.
