doesn't feel weird at all. feels completely normal to see floyd fighting another cherry picked opponent.
Does the Guerrero-Mayweather fight feel weird to you?

The fight will crack 1 million buys, which is nothing short of a miracle considering Guerrero isn't even that known.
Nothing is different on major networks from any of his recent fights, they don't start talking about generally until a few days before on the big networks like ESPN. I don't remember Floyd getting big interview spots before like he did at the NCAA tourney and everything.
It'll all be the same. If Mayweather cracks a million with Guerrero, that's a success obviously.Comment

Part of the problem is that 1- Floyd already has been paid a lion's share up front by the dummy over at Showtime so he isn't going waste his time promoting, and 2- Robert isn't doing interviews or promotions because he doesn't want to answer questions about the gun charge. Very quiet considering its a Floyd fight. It'll do numbers but not big numbers.Comment

Shoot... Ortiz was pretty big and Cotto's was just as big.
Now... I'm just watching Guerrero beat up a Pinata with Floyd's face on it and watching his Granny who looks like Floyd Snr. and RogerComment

Press conferences don't contribute anything to PPV buys....I mean how many casual fans watch the press conferences in all honesty??? I don't even watch them.Comment

Boxing press conferences are ***** compared to UFC press conferences. You get to hear the fighter for like 4 minutes tops, and none of the press row even ask them questions.
It's mainly Bob Arum or Richard Schaefer talking their asses off.Comment

Yes, the whole thing has been weird from the start. Even putting the SHO contract stuff in the rearview...it still doesn't feel like the promotion has even rolled out yet - basic stuff, like a press conference. Like having them in the same place at the same time...isn't that a rule in promotion? All I've seen of them together is the clips of them in front of a green screen for about about 45 seconds.
Luckily I've known of Guerrero for a while so I am interested in the fight, but I'm just 1 guy. I can see why people might feel it's lacking - its not the first thread like this about the fight.
We could just be brainwashed to HBO's ways and are struggling to break free?Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 04-16-2013, 12:07 AM.Comment

Good point, I wonder if they have gotten any backlash from that. Makes for a good segment on the reality show stuff, but doesn't really fly when face-to-face with the press and trying to get sponsors and outlets to sell the fight.Part of the problem is that 1- Floyd already has been paid a lion's share up front by the dummy over at Showtime so he isn't going waste his time promoting, and 2- Robert isn't doing interviews or promotions because he doesn't want to answer questions about the gun charge.
