  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Manager Talks Future Options, Scores, More

Gary Hyde, the manager of WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (12-0, 8KOs), is in full celebration mode. On Saturday night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Rigondeaux won a twelve round unanimous decision over Nonito Donaire in a high-stakes HBO televised unification showdown. The scores were 114-113, 115-112 and 116-111.

Hyde, like some others, had Rigondeaux will ahead.

"I thought the scores were too close. I had it 9-3. Maybe they scored a few rounds for Donaire because he was coming forward, but I thought the scores were too close and I had it 9-3 for Rigondeaux," Hyde told BoxingScene.com.

Thank god. Please Hyde don't allow Rigo to move up.

Looks like Hyde read our thoughts too. Romero and Terrazas/Mijares have to be his main targets and become undisputed. A fight vs Romero won't be too appealing for the ones who considered last night's fight boring tho.

I just hope this win doesn't get the best of Rigo. He needs to stay motivated and take EVERY fighter as serious as he did Donaire.

Darchinyan just signed with TR, why not take a stay busy fight and make a little coin before going for the Mijares/Terrazas winner?

Just collect and defend titles and dominate 122. Rack up those paper achievements at the pro level.

In 12 fights he's accomplished more than most have their whole careers and there isn't really a matchup that will do more for his career than the one last night.

Rigondo should move up in weight, I don't see anyone strong enough to really put the pressure on Rigondo at 122, and even though Rigondo outclasses many 122 lbers, his offense still sux at 122. Horrible mix to promote. If boxing was a sport like basketball or football, Rigondo could be on top and make money... but boxing needs exciting fighters to make boxing profitable. I just don't see Rigondo being profitable at 122.

This fight was only good because I was anticipating action that rarely occurred. I scored it 115-112 for Rigo. Thought it was much closer going into the 11th than HBO had it. After rigo won the 1st 5 or 6 rounds he ran for the next 4or5. He would out land nonito by landing a flurry to close those rounds. Rigo clearly won the 11th and 12th. Their were some big shots landed by both though.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rigondeaux fight Darchinyan, Terrazas, Frampton, or Romero.

Rigo started his pro career as superbatamweight in 2009(have been campaigning in this weight for 12 years) the same year when donaire was then and still campaigning at flyweight,,,,,Donaire worked his way up from division to division and beaten some of the good fighters out there until he met a certified SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT in Rigo...Let give props to donaire as he come this far by ascending 3 division up(10 pounds) since 2009 and facing a legitimate 122pounder fighter in Rigo..It translate to Rigo going up in weight and facing Broner.....Rigo is used in fighting at this weight in his entire career..Let see if Rigo can do the same by moving up in weight and fighting heavier guys like donaire did,,,This is something to look at....Rigo has the potential and skill to do that but for now, it is still premature to put him in pedestal..He just defeated the former flyweight in Donaire which is not something to celebrate for a legitimate SUPERBANTAMWEIGHT like Rigo....
