Mayweather's experience will probably put him over in a lot of fans' minds, and I think it's a fair way to choose. Last night was Rigo's coming out party, and I think he's as dangerous for 118-126 as Floyd is for 140/147 or Ward is for 168/175. He just needs to continue proving it. I think he's very capable of beating all the relevant SBWs: Quigg, Frampton, Romero, Bakhtin, Mijares, Terrazas, etc.
Who is the best technician in the game right now?

I think it's very hard to pick between the 3, very tough.
I'd give the edge to Floyd and it's a toss up between Rigo & Ward but I'd give the edge to Ward atm just because he's done it on a more consistent basis on the big stage.
That said there's not a lot in it.Comment

How is he one dimentional? Like Floyd, when he goes on the offensive he seems to be a terror. He can create effective offense of his defense alone that's the opposite of one dimentional. Can put his punches together, can box from the outside, mid range, get in and land thunderous body shots and literally slip punches at close range. Rigo is beautiful to watch he's just so refined its crazy.
To the people who criticize Rigo... You think its boring because he can (at will) hit his opponent and NOT get hit in return? Listen to that arguement before you realize how silly it is in regards to this sport. He probably wont sell PPVs but these skills are the type people recall generations from now. Like Hopkins, people grow to respect the science and never really are forgotten.
Anyway its practically a three way tie. Ward beat everyone in his division but (not his fault) there's not a Donaire type guy in his division so its his consistency over good opponents vs Rigo's ******ly dominant victory over a guy some people had ranked directly behind Ward p4p. Floyd has been doing it for ages and at his age is STILL the favorite against anyone he fights and would probably only have a close odds matchup vs Martinez...
JMM deserves a mention. Hopkins too.Comment

Rigondeaux showed that he's the truth, and I'm a believer but you don't go to the hall of fame after one fight. He's had a decorated career in boxing as an amatuer, but he needs to do it as a professional at the highest level on a consistent basis. Last night was like Rigo's version of Mayweather vs. Corrales. However, Floyd has maintained that elite level of fighting for many years. What seperates the truly great fighters, is that they maintain that consistency at the highest level of the sport. I think Rigo is more than capable of doing this and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of his career develops.Comment

floyd can fight coming foward, on the inside, and
can create openings whereas rigondeaux mainly only baits looking to counter, baits that are painfully obvious even to his opposition, but very difficult to counter-act, that's why alot of guys just shut down offensively and we get a no-show kind of fight where rigo just lands 1-2 punches a round and calls it a round
rigo is obviously very smart, but i feel he has more of a highly refined few set of skills that is an absolute nightmare to overcome put together, esspecially with his speed and power
where as the others can basically do it all(mayweather moreso than ward)
like the saying jack of all trades, master of noneLast edited by SplitSecond; 04-14-2013, 11:08 AM.Comment

So one fight defines a fighters entire career? What if Rigondeaux goes out there and loses his next fight?Comment
