I can also see Donaire work rate being cut significantly by Rigo's style, not many like to throw a huge amount of punches when each one can get you hurt.

Obviously Donaire by KO is not out of the question, the guy has huge power.

Either way i cant wait for this!
My backs covered. I'd even say round 10 made me right be wary of Donaires power.

      lol @ expected.

If Donaire would have won or KO'd Rigo, you would be the first to hide under a rock.

It's easy to make bold predictions, without any substance, which is what most posters on this site do.

For all you guys who "expected" or "knew" this would happen, I sure as hell would like to see some post, pre-fight, explaining how Rigo would beat or dominate Donaire.

Donaire will decapitate Rigo........Rigo wins I hide under a rock, or if Donaire wins, look at me I'm a genius and I knew it would happen.

Rigo will dominate Donaire......Donaire wins I disappear for a while vs Rigo winning only for me to turn around and tell poster I knew this would happen.

See how easy that was? Also notice how neither statement showed any knowledge of the sport explaining why I felt that would happen.

I had Rigo wimning but I feltt it would be a much closer fight. I knew he was skilled as shyt but what he did last night was mind blowing.

I didnt see people saying Rigo would dominate Donaire at all really unless they were trolling. This fight was hyped for a reason we felt it was even.

        Cut the shyt.

          see my last post.

And i wasnt even the biggest believer in Rigo. Plenty others were more confident than me! Just have a quick look at any of Dan_Cov's threads to see that.

I thought that the fight was going to be a close chess match but that somewhere along the line Donaire would catch him and put him down due to his size and power.

It did kind of happen but Rigo got up like it was nothing, flash KD. I knew Rigo was a beast but he completely controlled that fight and shut Donaire down in every way. Even in the round that Donaire scored the KD, Rigo got up and controlled the remainder of the round.

I was highly impressed with his perormance and I don't see anyone who can beat him at 122. Even if he moves up another class, I don't see anyone who can beat him with his level of skill. Speed, power, angles, feints, footwork, counter punching, defense.....the guy has it all. He just whooped up on the p4p#4 or 5 guy and now has unified a division in his 12th pro fight....he himself belongs in the p4p top 10 now.

              Great post from War Cotto.

I expected a much more tentative affair where the first 8 rounds could have been split right down the middle and then Rigo would start to time and hurt Donaire with big shots after feeling confident of neutralising his left hook.

All and all I expected a 7-5 decision for Rigondeaux and I wasn't for ruling out Donaire's punching power either combined with Rigo's somewhat inconsistent chin against Marroquin and the way he was phased by Cordoba but he really did put on the performance of a lifetime. I wasn't as supremely confident as I made out to be, probably about 60/40 Rigo by fight time.

I felt this tread was very necessary. Not to debate (who knew) that Rigo would dominate Donaire. But for us that didn't think Rigo was this special. Cause he really is probably the most talented fighter in the sport right now. It's not often that you will see a fighter with 10 pro fights dominating a top pfp fighter who's far bigger than he is.

Very few people said and believed that Rigo would dominate. I was, unfortunately, not one of them. One man championed Rigondeaux from the start. He said it would be "easy work" and never once wavered: dan_cov. Dan took on all comers on a regular basis and stuck his neck out for a post-fight torching. Never seen anything like it on these boards.

My hat's off to you, dan_cov, The High Priest of the Cult of Rigo!

I knew Rigo could outclass Donaire all along..his skill, footwork, power and speed hasn't been difficult to spot even against b-c-d level opposition...

The only thing that concerned me was Donaire's power..I was on my feet the entire night especially when Donaire would swing for the home run every now and again..

Round 10, I thought "here we go"..and Rigo got up like it never happened..it was an amazing showcase..and after last night...I wouldn't doubt Rigo's chin, and or skill level again. He proved his worth.

                    I can respect these predictions.

Both of you guys represent what I felt was the true thoughts of people who predicted Rigo to win. I do believe there are guys who thought Rigo would win but acknowledged that he could get Ko'd or beat as well.

However my replies or for those who post like the knew this would happen or that the fight went exactly how they expected. Posters like that are trolls and all the same. They never provide any knowledge as to why they think the fight will happen the way it did, and hide whenever they are wrong in their predictions.

                      Right there with ya.

I thought Rigo's inexperience was as a pro was gonna be the deciding factor but Nonito was the one that looked like an amateur.

He did anything and everything he wanted to do in that fight against a world class fighter.

He fought an almost perfect fight.

Props to nonito for taking advantage of that one mistake but man, he got outclassed.
