Yeah, spending only 2 weeks with Donaire for this fight was a horrible idea. He should have had Rios and him in the same place for training camp.

One thing I dislike about garcia is when you see him in online videos he always seems to get involved/comment on petty politics within the sport (mainly commenting on other fighters).
The dispute he has had with brother also leads me to believe he is a whinging *****.

I think Robert had a plan B in place for both guys, But when you rely mostly on KO's, you tend to think that plan A will come sooner or later.
You can clearly see that Nonito and Brandon were only looking for one thing, whatever Robert said was disregarded.

He seemed to be imploring Donaire to do more, especially to throw combinations. Donaire either wasn't listening or was unable to implement it.
You could hear them shouting to up the pressure all the time during the rounds, and were saying the same in between when we got to hear it.
Lo and behold, when Donaire did really go after Rigo, he roughed him up and scored a knockdown. Then he went home run hunting again, gave Rigo plenty of time to recover, and gave the next away as well. Given Garcia had told him he needed all 3 of the last rounds (winning 11 and 12 would have won him the fight, btw) I don't see how you can blame Garcia.
A trainer can only advise a fighter, work on their game plan and technique. He can't fight for them. I think Donaire has the tools to beat Rigondeaux, he just didn't put them together at all. He's blaming the weight, the shoulder, but that wasn't it. It was that he fell in love with his power. Against a brilliant technician like Rigo, you can't load up. He's not going to present you the opportunities for those shots to land unless you really set them up. Donaire needed to be jabbing, using combinations, putting Rigo under pressure by making him come from behind during rounds instead of letting him steal rounds with a 1 or 2 accurate shots and a ton of movement.

Its only a matter of time before Garcia gets exposed as well as his fighters. Well, its already starting.

when you fight the best you lose. Donaire thought a guy who is the best, has flawess technique in Rigod. He was bound to lose.
Robert Garcia isn't his main trainer though but it'll be interesting to see how the fights with the rest of his fighters unfold this year.

I meant that they were 50/50 fights on paper before the fights actually took place, but obviously when it happend it didnt turn out to be a 50/50 fight because alvarado clearly won the rematch.

i'm no expert and a bum when i get in the ring, but it was criminal donaire didn't stop winding up with that left hook. not only did rigo have it sussed, it allowed him to continuously step away and donaire had to reset over and over and over (yeah he got the KD but when he did land it the time was right and he didn't have to throw with intent).
maybe garcia told him to stop it but i didn't catch it. they were both bamboozled.
