    Robert Garcia as a trainer

With Brandon Rios and now donaire being defeated how much of this is the reason of Garcia?

He seems to me to give the wrong advice at times and is unable to have a plan b in case things go wrong.

    What do you guys think?

That's a fair criticism. Neither Rios nor Donaire were able to adjust.

When you train as many fighters as Garcia does, especially world class fighters, they are going to lose some time.

I wouldn't blame him for Donaire losing. He can say what he wants, if Donaire doesn't actually go out and do it that's not the trainer's fault.

Ehhh, I dont think its a cause for concern. Rios/Alvarado and Nonito/Rigo were both even match ups and 50/50 fights.

Not just that.... He thought the fight was even going into round 7!

Saying that fat dan of espn.con scored it 114-113!

I think where there's not much activity the judges tend to give it to the favourite in the fight who in this case was Donaire.

Couldn't understand the booing too... I enjoyed the fight and to me that is what would pan out if mayweather and pacquiao got it on.

Didn't see Nonito listening too much to be honest, one of the rounds Nonito came charging out at the bell and got suckered straight into a hook... Commentators were too busy talking **** so 90% of NSB missed it for sure

Typical New york crowd...they want action and they want it every second of the fight!

I do and don't blame him.

He is a very good trainer, and gives good advice. However the preparation or plan is what let's him down.

For example he told Donaire to put more pressure on and throw 3 punches a time. This was round 4 I think. After that, Donaire put on more pressure, and made Rigo go into a shell. Not much happened, but Donaire won it (IMO) on activity and a few landed shots with both missing/blocking a lot.

However Donaire didn't do it the next rounds.

What Garcia doesn't do well is get in the right sparring partners and make fighters watch their opponent. Rigo studied Donaire, every part he does. Donaire saw a bit of tape and said he will adjust. That's not good enough at world level. Garcia should have got guys who duck a lot and move, who limit how many shots land.

Rios VS Alvarado were also a concern. Pre fight Garcia said Alvarado will go into a war, but he generally boxed. You need plan B and C.

Robert is a busy guy, and needs to spend more time with his guys. Looked like he spent 3 or 2 weeks with Donaire only...
