Donaire is a good fighter but he relies so much on his size and power that he forgets to do things that are taught in boxing 101.

Tonight he showed that he was in love with his power. Instead of trying to use his distance throwing the jab he was just chasing Rigo while moving to the wrong side.

Donaire is fast and powerful, and is able to throw some decent combos (what makes them special is not his technique, but his speed when he throws them) but he tends to look just for the one punch KO.

Rigo is just a beast, the guy was faster than Donaire, way better defense and amazing precision in his offense.

Floyd is by some distance the best of his era and the fact that a your talking about Floyd when rig just beat monitor at 126 shows this. His haters can't keep him out of their mouths!

I am really reaching for examples though, because Floyd has never fought anyone even close to Donaire's level anywhere close to their prime.

Also Rigondeaux is 32. He is already past his prime... If you thought Rigo looked good tonight, you should have seen him when he was 24-25-26...

Floyd schooled Oscar 9 rds to 3. Oscar hit him with nothing significant. He beat Judah 9 to 3 and beat him up really. He KO'd Ortiz.

was the case of Marquez vs Mayweather for example.

Donaire we've seen in the past he's been less then amazing when he's forced to chase guys around the ring and try to be aggressive.

I didn't think Rigondeaux could take his power but he did and he hurt Donaire numerous times as well.

Rigondeaux is simply am extraordinary fighter. He's nearly impossible to hit, he's fast as hell and his reflexes are insane.
          Great post.

Keep in mind that Rigo is 32... he looks equally as spectacular when he was in his early 20's like Floyd was when he was 130.

What Floyd did with Oscar was nothing close to schooling... He left the first half of the fight up in the air and only starting putting distance after the 8th round, in a close fight that honestly he did deserve to win, but only by a round or two.

Being disciplined wasn't the problem. Boxing is not only a sport, but an entertainment business. Donaire was expected to take the lead as the guy people came to see and couldn't just sit back "being disciplined" waiting to counterpunch as Rigo did. And Donaire isn't very good at taking the lead, but he had to try regardless. It's hard getting off on a mover because any punches you throw would likely miss or get countered.

Don't know what fight you were watching, Floyd schooled Oscar....sure he was tentative but Oscar couldn't find him at all....he was in total control.

Rigo is an absolute master of this game, we've been telling people this for months.

He is THE elite guy south of 126 and he is downright sensational. What do you want; skill, speed, power, footwork, defensive brilliance, timing....how about all of that and then some? That is Rigo.
