The referee saved Slopiano against 45 yr old Lightheavy

I read this book from the library
about old fights. And they talk about
the Slopiano vs. Archie Moore fight.
When Archie Moore knocked Slopiano down,
The ref was supposed to count let Slopiano
back up then let the fight go on. Instead
what the ref did was as soon as Slopiano
went down ,he count then when he got up ,he gave
him a standing 8 count to let him regain himself,
which at the time was not allowed in championship
fight, but they did it anyway. Even Archie Moore
commented on this how they gave Rocky a break to regain
himself. Slopiano needed the ref to help him.
Thats why he retired after this fight, he could
not handle a 45 year old light heavyweight without
help from the ref.

well its very ironic u metioned "read the books", b/c as a matter of fact i read about it LAST NIGHT. check out the book "King of the Rings", great book and has lil biographys on all HW champs ever (inclusiding bear-knuckle era), and they went very deep into this controversy, which i never stated was un-legit. so dont tell me i dont no anything about this controversy, as of last night i DO

he had the worse skills
i ever seen in a man who won the
belt. very sloppy and over-rated
that is why I dont think he is
