He finally got rough and scored a KD right away.

I think Mares has the right style to beat Rigo.

Props to Rigo though. He fought his fight.
It's kind of hard to make it rough against Rigo because let's face it I don't know the last time we've seen better footwork from a fellow boxer and Rigo has one punch power with tremendous accuracy which can go to the liver or the head. Mares is also not as big as Donaire nor does he have the power, he might get clipped bad, but it's just hard to crowd Rigo when his foot movement is so ridiculous and he can one-time you at any point.

Rigo made Donaire look bad. Not Donaire's shoulder, lack of studying or pending fatherhood.
Repped.. From the get go it looked like Rigo's speed flustered Donaire, he was reluctant to throw early on.. At the end he wanted to go in more and hit, but that gruesome left counter calmed him down in the 12th. Enjoyed the fight.

This. Rigo tricked him in the 1st round by standing toe to toe, then he did a 180. He gave Nonito a little hope, and made him think he could eventually catch him with something big, but then he went full on counter strike mode, and MADE Nonito chase him.

No way man, you see Donaire's face after playing it safe? Had he opened up, he would have been ko'd in 3 rounds. In the round he scored a KD , he lost the other 2/3rds of the round due to counter shots. He knew that opening up would lead to a sure KO loss.

What people dont mention is Rigo got up and immediately took control of the rest of the round. This is, every time Donaire landed something, he paid for it with an equal/harder shot. He was trading with a guy who even when he was hit was always in a position to hit back and was always fully in control of his feet/balance. Donaire COULDNT cut off the ring because he was getting juked. Rigo literally made Donaire lose his balance on more than one occasion without even raising an arm or grabbing. Just sheer footwork.

I thought Donaire was favored to win this fight but what many of us suspected happened... He had trouble with guys who would shell up and he meets a guy who could creates his offense from his amazing defense who wasnt athletically inferior..an couldnt be intimidated by the speed and power. Donaire landed some big shots but Rigo's glass chin seemed to be a myth.
