NEW YORK CITY - Earlier this afternoon in front of a jam-packed room of media at NYC's historic Gallagher's Steak House in midtown Manhattan, K2 Promotions and DiBella Entertainment hosted the initial press conference to announce the highly-anticipated Middleweight Championship between defending champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (26-0, 23KO's) and Ireland's top-rated, former world title challenger Matthew "Mack The Knife" Macklin (29-4, 20KO's). Now that they have sized up. It is clear that Macklin has 0 chance of winning this fight..

Since back to back blast outs of Wayne El**** in 3 rounds and Amin Asikainen in just one to capture British and European titles 4 years ago, Macklin has been referring to himself as a huge puncher. At world level he's not and, as much as I like Matt, that will be evident in this fight. A spectacular win for Golovkin.

I love the fact that GGG is so active.

It'll be interesting to see how Golovkin is able to handle Macklin's style (and what style Macklin chooses to use at that).

Macklin's going to be tougher than people expect, but per his career, his defense has been his downfall against the top fighters in the division and is a weakness that can be exploited against GGG. Still... Macklin can make it an all action fight, if he can muscle Golovkin backward, stay on the inside, and put his combinations together.

I'm sure it's not nice to get hit by Macklin but I agree the only person who seems to refer to Macklin as a big puncher is Matthew Macklin.

I like both guys but Matthew is probably going to go out on his shield in spectacular fashion.

I'm actually a bit concerned this one is happening because I wanted Macklin/Barker which a lot of people have been waiting on for years. Depending on how this fight goes this fight could kill that one stone dead if Matt takes a bit of a beating.

I've heard people say that 3G is a small middleweight but he appears to be the bigger guy in that pic.
