It's true, most fighters who make weight usually cut down 10-15 lbs below their walking around weight in between fights to make weight for the division they're fighting in. But people like Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Bernard Hopkins choose to stay in shape and stay close to their fighting weight year round. As a matter of fact, both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight at the weight that they naturally walk around at, that's why they never gain too much weight when they rehydrate after the weigh in. Manny Pacquiao actually is able to eat a full meal before official weigh ins and still make weight! Because if you've followed Pacquiao's career as closely as I have, I for the 2nd Morales fight, he started rehydrating up to 144+ on fight night, and every fight after that he would always come in weighing in the higher 140's. Which means when the De La Hoya fight finally came, he wasn't having to kill himself to make weight anymore. And I'm a straight up Mayweather fan, so you can't accuse me of being biased. I actually like em both, but I'm Money Team 1st at the end of the day.

Other fighters have to readjust their timing, especially coming off of sparring, many of them are 10-17 pounds heavier in the ring.

What? Theyre the same weight in the ring as they were sparring. That is their real weight.

Mayweather looks the same all the time. Hes a small framed guy. If he put on 20 pounds it would be obvious.

I didn't want to appear to be a groupie, although I wanted to make the connection that we are months apart in age and I grew up 2 and a half hours away from him in Saginaw, MI. Also, because of the ****iness he shows on tv, I didn't want him to say something that would be disrespectful.

Broner was also with him. Broner appeared to be an inch or so shorter but a little wider and heavier than Floyd. When I spoke to Floyd (not a conversation) all I could think of was that this dude is small as heck. He appeared to be the size I was in high school and I was considered small in high school. He was definately about 155 pounds. There were a couple teenagers, young adults (maybe early 20's) who came up to speak with them and they stayed and appeared that they were all going to hang out a bit. Floyd was a little more reserved than Broner.

I think that the scale will be shown on All Access. I doubt they just took a picture and not going to show this on the show. But my point is Floyd is small as heck. I'm about 5'8" and 185 and he was no where my size.

I wondered where them and those kids went. I know those young people may of had the time of their lives, even if it was a ride down the street and back. And no, I didn't see the Money Stack.

Haha. I met a shorty from Saginaw. She told me it's bad as hell there. At least on the West or East side. Something like that.

Anyway, I was at the Detroit K9/Ishe fight too. On the ground floor. Of course, Floyd is small. Anyone with eyes there would have easily saw that. I didn't spot Broner though, didn't see him at all. But I did hear he was around partying afterwards.

Yeah, Saginaw is bad. They been calling it 'Sagnasty' for years. Top 3 worst city in America per capita, year after year. Half the time we are number 1. I think one year it was Saginaw, Flint and then Detroit. smh. Thats cool you got to see the fight live. What was the ticket prices? I think I would of got tickets had I knew in advance. Come to think of it, I think there was gonna be another fight but it cancelled and maybe thats why I didn't have an interest. Can't remember.

Making weight early can make all the difference....

Being at weight a month before the fight means you spend all your time sharpening your skills not trying to make weight. Also, Guerrero having to cut 15lbs in a month isn't good for anyone especially this magnitude of a fight. Like Lampley said fighting Mayweather is a hard dose of reality.
