Comments Thread For: Trout Focused On Alvarez: My Goal Is To Silence Crowd

By Jake Donovan - It remains to be seen whether or not Austin Trout becomes an attraction in his hometown, or any town he’s called home. The unbeaten southpaw has frequented venues in his home state of New Mexico and has defended his alphabet title in his birth city of El Paso, Texas.

For the most part, though. Trout has been forced to hit the road for meaningful fights during his seven-plus years in his career. Away games in Mexico and Panama were required in order to obtain the alphabet title currently in his possession, which he defends in a 154 lb. unification bout with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on April 20 in San Antonio. 100% more of a competitive fight than the Mayweather vs. Guerrero bout... Canelo seems kinda small to me compared to Trout... so I see it as the toughest challenge Canelo will have so far in his career... Hope there are no headbutts to ruin this good match up... good job on Canelo's part to headline his own card..

Oh, it's real easy for some. They just look at his complexion. The dude is a class act and good guy. I remember when his people had to wait outside while canelo and his cronies invaded Trout's press conference with Cotto. Talk about diva hoods.

Trout has that something extra in his personality that is rare. Looking over all his interviews it shows he is humble, likable, and an overall good guy. He is one of my top 5 favorite fighters today. Canelo's team held Canelo back for a while but that is how it goes cause management has it in the contract that they pick the opponent. I do feel that Canelo wanted to step up a while back. Anyone who tries to fight Paul Williams, Kirkland, and now Trout shows this. Both sides can be applauded for making this fight.

Rewatched the Cotto-Trout fight and I swear to ya Cotto was robbed!!! Lol just kidding, he clearly lost. What I did notice was that Cotto landed a lot of power shots on Trout. Canelo is younger, hungry, faster and hits harder at this point in time then Cotto. If Canelo can have similar success, Trouts in some trouble.

True, but styles make fights and the equation of the above items, triangle theories fail often. Cotto also had top level experience in the tons range, had a different skill set. And Trout could raise his game even higher. But sometimes what you are saying here is correct.

I like Trout's persona. Looks like(and obviously) he's working hard. Respect for the guy.
