I don't mean he didn't commit the crime but his sentence falls under the 8th ********* as a Cruel & Unusual Punishment. A lot of guys have done way worse, actually murdered people and have gotten less than 10 years in prison. But poor Etienne a black dude in the racist and backwards assed south in Louisiana gets that ridiculous sentence. Dude should have gotten 20 years and been out in 10 for good behavior. Seriously, feel terrible for the guy. Where the hell is Barry Scheck and Robert Shapiro for this guy?

On Wikipedia it says he robbed a business, kidnapped a family, and tried to shoot 2 police officers. Prior to these crimes he had already been in prison for armed robbery.

So should we wait until he actually kills someone? He has been in and out of prison and went this time for kidnapping and armed robbery.

His crimes were bad and he was obviously off the rails but with all that it still seemed excessive. Jurisdiction down there must allow for lots of sentencing leeway. In my area, I don't think he'd do near that time nor do I think he should. I mean 40-50 with 1/2 lopped off for good behavior is the max for me. Gives him a modicum of a chance. But a 160 years, come on, that's way excessive.
