resume wise, its pacquiao. but ofcourse marquez will always be mention in the same breath. style per style pacquiao can also beat the fighters marquez can beat. he is just tailor made for marquez. his height, his reach, his aggressiveness/mentality and patience. and ofcourse, marquez is very smart enough to take advantage of all of it. the only things that made it all close fights are because of pacquiao's physical talent and determination.
he was thoroughly outbox by marquez, but never cooled down on his work rate.

i dont think marquez can beat the margarito that pacquiao fought.

Yes, Marquez is Pacquiaos kryptonite. but people act as if Marquez was robbed in all 3 fights, but the truth is they were close competetive fights and if Marquez got all the decisions people would say Pacquiao was robbed.

So even with the KO loss, I think Pacquiao is the better fighter (against same opposition) and has accomplished way more.
I'm not sure who Marquez struggled with in his late 30's matters that much. You can say exactly the same for Pac. He struggled with Sanchez and could only sc**** a draw out of it, while Marquez dominated him and basically won every round.

Still, Pac has achieved more overall, but Marquez still gets underrated for his overall resume too. The win over Pac is greater than anything Pac has on his own resume. In reality, apart from the absurd robbery in the Bradley fight, Pac hadn't lost a fight in 8 years or something and was P4P 1 or 2.

All the following are full, legit champions he's beaten.

        Pacquiao
        Barrera
        Casamayor
        Salido
        Gainer
        Medina
        Sanchez
        Peden
        Diaz
        Kotey
        Gervacio

I'm sure there's more, but you also have guys like Rocky Juarez, Kats and Victor Polo, who was genuinely screwed in two of his world title tries and should absolutely be a two time champion.

It's not as impressive as Pac of course, but it's pretty bloody good and underrated considering people constantly talk about "Marquez has only beaten Pac and Diaz, and even then struggled with Diaz! LAMO own!" because being the only guy to knock Diaz out (despite Diaz having faced champions and punchers like Acelino Freitas, Nate Campbell, etc).

Pac is Marquez's biggest accomplishment, but it's certainly not the only thing he's done. 4 division weight champion, oldest lineal lightweight champion in history, etc.

Anyway, Pac is greater but Marquez still very great and overall a very solid resume.

You ****** ****ers just can't help yourselves. You have to bring up Floyd in everything.

You guys are the reason he's so damn popular and the single highest paid athlete in sports. Even his haters are literally obsessed with him. It's hilarious.

You erase the Cotto fight from memory? Wouldn't blame you.

It's a really good post. To nitpick, Casa was not a legit champ, after JASC.

Well Pacquiao is the only reason Marquez will be remembered.

Are you saying that a 145 pound Cotto win is the deciding factor on which of the two is superior to the other?

Both will be remembered as greats.

However, Pacquiao will be remembered like Ali, while Marquez will resemble Frazier.
