Manny can learn from this....
Ok let's play devil's advocate for a sec: If this strategy for Marquez to milk more money out of Arum then good move.
Off the devil's advocate: If Marquez is actually serious, i'm sure he knows he won't make more money fighting Bradley. Yet, this opens discussion about something we boxing fans have been clamoring about for years and that is boxers taking control of their own boxing careers by making their own decisions and refusing to be a puppet for any promoter.
Yes, we all know that boxes would love to make the most amount of money possible for the fights because after all, they are the ones in the rain taking punches. My only wish is that Manny Pacquiao would embrace the same philosophy and come out and make these type of statements publicly like Juan Manuel Marquez has done.
Many should force Arum out of the way and make that $50+ million in a Mayweather fight instead of taking the position of "I will fight the fighter that my promoter tells me too."
It is easy for me to publicly state that he is willing to do anything and everything to fight Floyd Mayweather: drug testing, 55/45 split etc, only to have Bob Arum follow up behind Manny and say "HELL NO" then Manny "concurs" with Arums wishes.
Manny should just say "FUDGE what you are talking about Arum. I want to find who I want to fight so that I can make the maximum amount of money that I can make."
This is why I love what one Manuel Marquez has said. Whether it is a strategic ploy to get more money out of a room or not, I still love that he had the balls to say this in public.
