You know your a great defensive fighter when out of a total of 59 rounds boxed people bring up one shot where you get caught with a good punch.
How hurt was Rigondeaux really...

Can someone post GIFs of those two shots Rigo took, please? (No need to make ones of the two knockdowns Guille scored against his much bigger opponent.)Comment

He was very hurt. His lights turned off momentarily and you could see it when his head dropped. If RM had landed another flush shot right after that, it would have been lights out. But that DOES NOT mean its going to happen against Donaire per se. A friend of mine with a HIGH percent of correctly picked fights once told me "Whenever people talk too heavily about a single type of punch ending the fight, it rarely happens". Its counting on something that the dynamics of the fight may not allow because of styles. I favor Donaire overall slightly but Donaire is not very hard to hit. And he can fall into a lull now and then which an opponent could capitalize on. Also, the ability to take a shot can also be related to focus and conditioning and Rigo will be far more in the zone in those categories for Donaire than he was for Marroquin.Truly a pickem fight. If this is a 3-1 or 4-1, it may be good to place a bet on Rigo. I think both guys could use some humbling.....maybe moreso Donaire who has shown a bit of a Diva attitude. But it is cool that Donaire has said the more he sees Rigo, the more impressed his is.Last edited by richardt; 04-05-2013, 07:50 PM.Comment

Thanks, man. I wanted GIFs for everyone to easily see. But I just watched both Marroquin shots a few times to be sure what I was looking at. The first shot looked worse than the second, but neither looked terrible. When I first watched the fight, I was more concerned about the way Rigo took those two punches. I don't see them as quite so bad now. Even before this, however, I thought the talk about Guille's chin was overdone.Comment
