Missing punches don't win you fights either. Defense is a scoring criteria, EFFECTIVE aggression is a scoring criteria and the key word is EFFECTIVE. De la Hoya's aggression was not effective.

Well, Oscar was throwing a 5 punch combination and Whitaker was bobbing and weaving and didn't get hit with the first 3, but the last 2 always connected. Watch the fight again and then you see what I mean. Whitaker slipped a few punches and then he got hit flush at the end of Oscar's flurries. Over and over again.

I had Oscar winning a close one, Sweet Pea was slick as always but didnt do quite enough punching/scoring to quite win it....

Chavez vs Whitaker was a robbery. Chavez got schooled big time. Mayweather vs Oscar was in a way a robbery just because their is no way in hell Oscar should have even won on 1 scorecard.

Oscar vs Whitaker wasn't a robbery but it was pretty damn close. I remember scoring it for Whitaker but not by much. So I can't say it was a robbery. Very close fight. Wish Sweet Pea would of threw more to win it convincingly.

It was more effective than Whitakers, that's the point.

Close fight but Whitaker didn't win it with offense and defense doesn't win you fights.

Also does anyone know why Delahoya always has controversial decision when it comes to slick fighters?? It is just has style? IE, Floyd and Whitaker, Shane
i thought sweet pea won but it wasn't a robbery. ODH fought well.

Showboating without throwing punches doesn't win you rounds. To me instead of trying to do that he should of put more offense like the rounds he won to get the win. Haven't seen the fight in a while but I had Oscar winning, even with the bullshit point deduction they gave to Whitaker.

Pernell was slick, but he was having obvious troubles with Oscars size the whole night. He was having trouble returning fire simply because of Oscars range, which made for a hard fight to score as Oscar wasn't scoring but neither was Pernell.
