If he fights in another country the ppv numbers are gonna be lower so tehnicaly is the same think only Arum wants to break into Asia so the US is being deprive of seing The PacMan live
a similar article is on yahoo. it says that Nevada is changing its tax rate to about 39.6%. SO manny would make less per fight in china but keep more of it. SO instead of $25 mil in vegas and getting $15 mil, manny will get $20 mil in china and keep almost all of it. Reasonable and a smart business move.
I will assume Manny and his team are being genuine about the money (which many of his fans swore he didn't fight for). There is also something else going on in Nevada.
The Nevada comission is looking into making their drug testing more stringent. Instead of allowing a 6:1 testosterone ratio (I believe) they are changing it to 4:1. It may just be accidental timing but it bears noting that manny and his team are discussing moving completely to Asia at a time when the Vegas and the US is making testing more stringent.
Why the TS wants to avoid discussing it, the yahoo article discusse how this gives manny the opportunity to fight lower profile fighters for easy money.
Avoid discussing what? This has no relevance to this thread whatsoever. Prick no.1 ^^
I just wasnt sure what the deal was with tax in the U.S. I know that its very high here, but always thought it was a lot lower stateside, also I didnt know whether foreigners had to pay more, less or the same.
dubai would be epic, they do everything better than the rest, their football and cricket stadiums are best in the world. I can only imagine what stops they would pull out to get a big fight
Floyd vs Manny on the helipad of the Burj? That would be amazing!!
Just picked this up from BBC news... anyone know what the story is here? It doesnt say very much in the story, just that its for tax reasons. I'm wondering if thats why promoters are looking at doing shows in tax havens..
Manny Pacquiao is in talks to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for a fifth time in September - but not in the United States.
*note - I know i expect the usual flojob ******s to use this as an opportunity to claim that multi millionaire Pacquiao is somehow on the bones of his arse, but please save yourself the bother because that isnt the purpose of this thread and you will only end up making yourselves look like pricks. Thanks.
Taxes have always been high, Manny is avoiding being medically outted (Mannys brain got scrambled wit that KO).Plus he's about to go back on the juice since the Floyd fight is a wrap, no need to go clean now.

Of course it does. Manny and his team cite the reason for exploring Asia as money reasons. Yet the expected drop in ppv sales that Bob acknowledges (read the Yahoo article) means Manny could be losing more money. They very well could be lying and using the tax issue as a front, especially when Manny will still have to pay phillipine taxes and US taxes if he maintains his residence in Cali.
Manny and his team are discussing leaving Vegas when implementastion of more stringent testing is close. If you only want to have a one sided discussion thats fine. But this is no different than Manny staging fights in Texas. while Bob says its "opening new markets" (which I'm sure is one piece of it) the new markets Manny explores all seem to have less stringent testing or no testing at all.
