So... Arum is looking past Rigo? We already know how that works. Pretty sure he looked past Alvarado too and Salido when Juanma faced him.

And tbh Mares probably gains more from beating Ponce (if he does) than Donaire beating Rigo (if he does).

Thank Arum? Arum is not the one to blame here. This mess is between HBO and GB. GB wanted to televise that bull**** fight between Canelo and Lopez over Martinez and Chavez and HBO told them to **** off with their bs matchmaking so GB got mad.

It's a big pity that something so simple as co-hosting with Showtime and HBO being present can't happen, Arum just want's this fight not to happen in my opinion.

Its an arms race gentleman. And GBP and Showtime have all the young talent on their side. Canelo, Broner, Garcia, Mares, Matthysse, Trout, Peterson, Cotto, Thurman, Russell Jr.,and Khan HBO cant compete with that kind of talent pool. And they have all the nationalities that are passionate about boxing covered. England, US, Mexico, and PR are all represented. Over time Showtime will come out ahead in this deal.

As much as I feel that Bob Arum is the reason a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight hasn't happened, I do feel that Schaefers recent comments and this whole showtime fiasco has led me to question Goldenboy and their whole stance of late.

I'm starting to, dare I say it, like old Bob! And I question just how one sided this promotional blockade of fighters actually is?

Regardless, its the fighters that aren't just about money, who are about proving how good they can be, that are suffering in this, guys like Mares, Donaire, Rios, Matthysse etc, as well as us as fans.
