Its hard to judge from the Maroquin fight. I mean in all fairness it was 3 rounds of Rigo absolutely making a fool of him, with Maroquin throwing next to no punches at all.

Its easier to get lazy with things when nothing is coming back from your opponent.

So he got lazy, and he got clipped by a big strong guy that can punch. He didn't go down, he recovered quickly, and went straight back to dominating the rest of the round both times.

Marroquin is huge so when Rigondeaux was able to put him down with that 1-2 combo that ended with the straight right, that deserves lots of props. Rigondeaux has tremendous power and as a Donaire fan that worries me somewhat.

im not just talking about the marrquin fight tho ..he did it in all of his fights and obvously was able to get away with it but it's a diffrent story when your fighting an elite esp a good counterpuncher that has power in both hands..

I remember this, and it was Mayweather Sr (or Roger) who tweeted that, which is a fake account.

Donaire needs to watch out for straight lefts and rights by coming in at angles rather than straight on. Rigondeaux doesn't have as good of hooks.

People seriously underestimate is power. I believe that he has the kind of power that if he catches anyone flush on the chin, they are going down.

I think it gets forgotten because he has such a slow deliberate style and he doesn't really try to close the show after he hurts a guy, but he can punch... very hard. People also forget what a brutal body puncher he is.

I mean in 11 fights he has 4 or 5 stoppages from the left bolo to the body.

He has dropped every single person that has stepped into the ring with him, and was legitimately stopping guys in the Amateurs, which is very impressive with the head gear and bigger gloves.

People that have not actually taken the time to watch him as an Amateur also tend to peg him as a pure counter puncher. He is not... He is an incredibly well school well rounded fighter that can do everything.

Most of all, he is incredibly slick, and incredibly committed to the body.

People like to say "Amateurs don't mean ****".

Well... the truth is... impeccable defense is impeccable defense, amateur or pro. A punch is a punch, speed is speed, and if it misses it misses, doesn't matter if you are some Amateur from Turkey or if you are Nonito Donaire.

Rigondeaux has seen people with Donaires speed, he has seen people with Donaires unorthodox angles, he has seen people with Donaires movement.

Donaire has never seen anyone with Rigondeaux timing, or his skill.

With all that said, there are 3 possible outcomes to the fight.

                    Donaire by KO
                    Rigondeaux by KO
                    Donaire by Decision.

Rigondeaux doesn't have a chance in hell of winning a decision in this fight. Bob Arum is grooming Donaire to become a cash cow, not a chance in hell he will get the judges favor in a fight that goes the distance.
