Comments Thread For: Team Martinez: Golovkin, Geale Possible - Who is Quillin?

Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser to WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs), informed BoxingScene.com that champions Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23KOs) and Daniel Geale (29-1, 15KOs) are strong possibilities for Martinez's next fight - provided Martinez retains his crown on April 27th in Argentina, when he faces undefeated Martin Murray (20-0-1, 11KOs).

In the meantime Geale should fight Golovkin

Quillin is being positioned to become Showtime's "Berto"

LOL that should kill Quillin's argument that GGG is not famous enough to fight him.

Why would Martinez duck GGG? GGG is a decent fighter, but he is too slow, and has not even faced an elite fighter yet. Its one thing when your untested knocking out bums. But the moment you step up to the elite, you have a glass jaw, and they walk through your punches. I think Quillin can beat GGG. Even Macklin could. Martinez will break GGG's face, and the speed difference would be phenomenal. Mismatch anytime you put a slick fighter in the ring with a come forward slow fighter with no headmovement.

surprised Chavez Jr. rematch was not mentioned @ all in this. Golovkin and Geale should fight in the summer and hopefully face Martinez in fall/winter in late 2013.
