An undercard would be fine I guess, but all indication was that Golovkin would headline. And with Macklin supposedly fighting a tuneup on the undercard, the whole thing would be crap.
It's not really gonna help his chances land the better fights if they freeze him out like the contenders did. But hopefully they got something better than the above. IMO only Stevens is acceptable, and that's a very short fight. Bika would be great, if nothing at middle.

None of those options sound great. Maybe they can set him up against a faded name like Jermaine Taylor. Alternatively, he could cut to 154 or do a catchweight against someone like Miguel Cotto?

It seems at this point that he should be getting some names on his resume that the casual US boxing fan would be familiar with to help get his name right if the top guys in his division keep getting tied up with "more appealing" commitments.

what about a fight with Pirog? or N'Jikam? or Thomas Oosthiuzen at 168? Plenty of decent fights out there that are better than the Rosados and Ishidas of the world
Pirog is still injured. Ndam I'm sure won't take it since he has a rematch clause with Quillin if I'm not mistaken.

I'd guess Sakio Bika would fight Golovkin. IMO that would be a good test.

before, these MWs would jump at the oppurtunity to fight on hbo.

now an hbo fight doesn't seem attractive enough if the offer is to fight golovkin.

the bika fight is among his best options. i think that his team should try to make that fight. hbo would certainly buy it.

Might as well give Rubio a call.

The same Rubio that ran away and then quit against Pavlik?
