Junior welterweight Mike Alvarado got revenge with a twelve round unanimous decision over Brandon Rios at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to capture the WBO interim-junior welterweight crown. Though i though Alvarado clearly won the fight , by a wide margin, 10-8 in the 2nd isn't totally outrageous. Alvarado was almost finished.

From a less experienced judge caught up in the moment it might be acceptable.

Duane Ford has been around way too long, and he knows better. That is extremely troubling that he scored that round 10-8 and the fight to Rios.

He also gave Rios round he didn't win. His scorecard is peculiar though in the end he has the right winner.

He gave Rios 6,7,8 and the other judges only gave him 1 of the 3.

no way # 2 was 10-8...Ford is slipping, some inconsistent scores on some bouts in the past 2 years or so...Alvarado was staggered twice but always fought bk../the key, IMO, in q non-KD round is total domination w/everything but a KD,,,,this did not happen...Ford needs 2 take some time off...

I had Rios up 1 with 3 to go, but he finished really poorly.

They're not called the championship rounds for nothing. You wanna win, you need to turn up the last 3 rounds. Shaking your head at overhand rights doesn't score points with judges.

The irony was that Alvarado was starting to look a bit desperate late on. Rios was starting to shake him with jabs (again) and he was glancing at his corner. Rios needed to put the foot down and he probably could have dropped or stopped Alvarado but instead he just plodded forward and it was Alvarado who nearly pulled out the late knockdown.

I had Alvarado 1 point up after closing strong, could have went either way or a draw would have even been ok and would have been the THIRD of the night!

Hopefully Bob doesnt **** us around and just gets the rubber match made, Bam Bam deserves it after all he gave Mike one
