What happened to boxing?

Not once did i say either had a better resume, but their resumes are far from weak, they both have great resumes and have accomplished a lot in the sport that i loveI'm sorry. Did I misinterpret what you just wrote?? Are you implying that a resume like SRL's is receiving more glory than it deserves?? Are you saying that say Floyd beating say Corrales will be greater than SRL beating a Benitez in 20 years or so??
Cause personally I think in 20 years their resume (Floyd's/Pacman's) will still look like hot garbage compare to Leonard's.Comment

Not to beat a dead hores but.... These things have been going on for YEARS!, it's just the media age where we can now see it ASAP and clear.I don't understand boxing anymore these days. At one point Gamboa (126 pounder) was supposed to fight Brandon Rios (2 weight classes higher at that time).
I see Malignaggi (147 pounds) fighting Broner (135 pounds), even though Malignaggi wouldn't beat the other welterweight world champions (in my opinion). A disgraceful way for Broner to get a title at welterweight.
I see Golovkin defending his middleweight world title against Rosado, a LIGHT middleweight. Then I hear Golovkin is supposed to defend his title against Ishida, another LIGHT middleweight. (Not saying it is Golovkin's fault, but nobody of the other middleweight world champions would fight him).
Then I see Peter Quillin defending his middleweight title against Fernando Guerrero, who was also a light middleweight the last time I checked his record.
Boxing is done. Dead.
I see Canelo getting a world title at light middleweight by winning against a welterweight (Matthew Hatton). Then I see him defend that title against Josesito Lopez, a light welterweight (!!!!!).
What happened to boxing?
The world champions defend their titles against guys from lower weight classes over and over again. While the other world champions in that weight class do the exact same thing.
But the whole Manny Pacquiao weight jumping thing has gotten people to ignore the purpose for divisions.
People now believe a LW can/should be able to jump to WW/LMW and be effective (Tho I believe he did it on the juice).
But this stuff has always gone on, look back in historyComment

Their resume pales in comparison to the likes of SRL. But they've done just enough to be considered great imo.Comment

Just because a couple of guys are doing that ****, it doesn't ruin the sport. What bout Khan, Bradley, Ward + the 168 pound division, Hopkins at 100 years old. There's plenty of warriors still willing leave it all in the ring.
Yeah there's a lot of B.S. going on in the sport with the manufactured "stars" but the real ones eventually shine through.
A good fight is a good fight...who expected to see what we saw with Bradley and Prodvodnikov?
You'll have nothing to complain about tonight, that's for sure.Comment

What do my scorecards of certain fights have to do with this thread? 99 % of your comments are lame and.....
Do I permanently stalk you because of that? No, I don't.
By the way, I scored Cloud vs Hopkins as a draw.Last edited by raskat; 03-30-2013, 01:02 PM.Comment
