I wasn't there and I can't say what Roach did or did not do. What I go on is what Roach has said personally. He has said that at this stage in his career, it's getting harder and harder for him to be the boss in the gym.

For me that's the biggest issue with Jr, is he needs someone to be on top of him and really control every aspect of his training. Roach just isn't that guy anymore and I think Jr knows he can get away with stuff so him picking Roach leads me to believe he's going to do the same nonsense.

chavez is a one dimensional fighter. and roach is a over rated trainer that can't teach nothing. let them have each other. can't wait to jr get in the ring with GGG. unless jr continues to duck him.

In the same light, if Chavez did hire an alpha coach it wouldn't be pretty for the first couple of fights. The clash of egos would get to the arrogant Chavez and he would only increase the frequency of what he's been doing (or lack of) with Roach. His training camps could suffer and that might lead to more losses.

I think Chavez will eventually fire Roach, but only after he feels his career is back on track. He won't leave his comfort zone until then.

Ultimately a coach won't be able to change him. He's going to have to make a decision on whether or not he wants to be an elite fighter which requires elite training and elite dedication. He can't keep doing what he's doing and expect to be taken seriously.

Who ever trains him better start teaching him basic boxing defence and how to use the jab. Jr has a great chin, good power, and a good body attack. But without basic defence or some semblance of a jab, Jr will never beat a world class fighter.

Yeah,Chavez' ego is his biggest detriment.

It doesn't matter who trains him because Junior already is what he is and all he ever will be and what that is isn't very good.

Funny thing is you have Khan and Chavez in your avatar and both are overrated, not to mention Khan was knocked out cold in 4 rounds by the "bum" you're mentioning.
