Comments Thread For: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Plans To Stick With Freddie Roach

After scouting for months for a new trainer, former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. plans to retain the services of Freddie Roach. Chavez is scheduled to return on June 22nd in either Texas of Mexico City.

"No, I will not change coaches. I will continue with Freddie Roach. I will train the last few months with him, because I will be heading to Otomni to be with my coach Vladimir Valdenegro, who always helps me prepare," Chavez told reporters during a training session.

Hopefully Chavez decides to buckle down and train somewhere besides his living room. I think a lot of it is on him for his loss not so much the trainer

He'll be fighting Vera... The weakest of the three ... That much I promise. Good moving staying with roach... It would have made him look even worse scapegoating him.

Yea but I wouldn't say Provodnikov was that much of a loss on the scorecards sure but he fought a great fight that night just didn't come out with the W. I think Freddie worked well in that fight

It's called money. I think this is a huge mistake on the part of Chavez team. Not because Roach isn't a good trainer, but because he can't dominate Jr.

Jr needs someone who won't put up with hi **** and I think that's why he chose Roach and stayed away from Garcia or Nacho.

Roach did a good job developing some of Chavez's game. But ultimately like you said, there's only so much he could do due to not being able to "dominate" him.
